Dependent Visa Maintenance Fund

Post by hsmp_apr2010 » Fri Apr 09, 2010 12:30 pm

H,

I am out of country applicant. I am planning to apply for Tier 1 G in next couple of weeks.

I will apply for my wife's dependent visa after I get mine stamped. So for the moment we are not applying together. She will apply later on and travel to UK once I get job there.

Please can somebody help me with answering Part 7, point 7.1 of the PBS APPENDIX 1document.

You must have £2,800 available funds for yourself plus £1,600 for each dependant accompanying you or intending to join you
in the United Kingdom within 12 months of your arrival in the United Kingdom.

7.1 Calculate the amount of funds required for you and >>>>
the dependants named in the Personal Details part of this
application form and enter the amount here.
IS the highlighted quote above only valid if we are applying together?

What Should I answer to question 7.1

2800+1600=£ 4400, (As she will be joining me in next 12 months)
or

2800 - As I am not sending her application along with mine.

Also Can I apply for her visa while I am in India and then travel to UK together?

Thanks,
R

Yes you can. if you are applying her visa, then you need to maintain 2800 + 1600/ dependant for three months. But bear in mind when you apply for her separately you have to pay full application fee for the dependant, as compared to less fee when you apply her visa with yours.

Thanks,
R
I hope this answers your query.
regards,
all is well that ends well

The above statement is clearly saying that if your dependant is accompanying you or intending to join you in UK within 12 months of arrival in the UK, you should maintain £2800+£1600.

From that second part of the statement, my understanding is that even if you are not applying for dependant now and are planning to apply in the next 12 months from your arrival in UK, you should maintain £2800+£1600.
But bear in mind when you apply for her separately you have to pay full application fee for the dependant, as compared to less fee when you apply her visa with yours.
If you apply out of country, then you would have to pay full fee for dependant regardless of whether applying along with you or not.

From my understanding at the time of application if you are not applying for your dependants then you only have to maintain enough funds for yourself i.e. £2800 for three months.
Later, once hopefully you get the visa you need to show £2800 + £1600/dependant for three months if you plan to apply with in the first year of you getting the visa.
Only if you have spent over a year in UK after being granted the visa you need to show £800+£533/dependant for three months.
In either case, your dependant will have to make in country application, and will have to go with the option of joining later (since you have already been granted visa).

I hope others can shed more light on this.
