Dependent Visa Query

Post by Shaili » Fri May 20, 2011 6:22 am

Hi All,

I am an Indian Citizen. My husband is going to UK by May end on a work permit through is employer. I am entitled to get a dependent visa. I have also received an admit from the University of Oxford and my course starts in Setember.
I wanted to apply for a dependent visa so that I can visit my husband now come back by June end to India and apply for student visa then.

I just wanted to know, if there could be any problem is applying for two different UK visas in such a short span of time? Also, are there cases in which dependent visas get rejected? In such a case will it affect my student visa application?

Really need some advice on this!!

Thanks!!

No one is "entitled" to get a visa.

No.

Yes, if you do not fulfil the eligibility criteria or if the ECO believes (on balance of probabilities) that you do not meet the requirements.

In general, no. But depends on the reason(s) of refusal (e.g. - if accused of using deception in an application, any future application may be refused).

What sort of work permit visa is your husband getting? If you're getting a dependant visa, then why don't you remain on it while studying?

Thanks Sushdmehta!

@vinny: His visa is valid for 3 years but his current project may get over after 6 months and he may have to return to India. So if I go on a dependent visa wont I have to come back to India with him?
