Desperately Need Help! Leaving for England in 2 months!!

Post by tina1984 » Wed Dec 09, 2009 2:52 am

Hello, I am an american citizen (24) and my fiance is a British Citizen (19). Naturally we want to get married as soon as possible, but unfortunately the new laws state you must BOTH be at least 21 years of age or older to apply for a Fiance/Marriage Visa! Are there no Exceptions to this rule?? Could we provide proof that this is not a forced or arranged marriage? I am visiting him in the Uk for 6 months next year on a tourist visa, so Id like to know my options before I leave, if I have any. I guess I could visit every 6 months until he is 21. However that can get quite expensive! His family owns a business, could I apply for a work visa to work for them and get married while there? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!! :)

You cant get around 21 years minimum age for spouse/fiancee visa. If you want to get married, you will have to apply for COA (certificate of approval) before you can get married.

You cant just work in any kind of trade/business and get a working visa.
I suggest that you read this UKBA website about working in UK. if you think you qualify for any of the tiers then come to this forum and discuss about it further. Here is the link:

Marriage doesnt give you the right to live in UK, and you cant also apply to live in UK till your husband is 21.
