Did not inform the department about divorce

Post by lenovo » Tue Jun 11, 2024 3:17 am

Hi,

Can someone please guide me about divorce in foreign country,

I got divorce from my wife in 2021 from my home country but I did not inform any department in Ireland
about my divorce because my solicitor said that this is your personal matter, and you don't need to
inform the departments. I want to buy a property in ireland and i want to inform revenue and other
departments about my divorce before buying the property. please guide if the department will accept
the divorce or not. thanks

If you married in this country, you must disclose it; however, if you married and divorced in your home country, it does not matter as long as you have the necessary paperwork. I would take solicitors' advice here because they know the law, and if they say you shouldn't disclose, don't.
