Different Address on Bank Statements

Post by drmlondon » Tue Mar 03, 2009 1:31 am

Hi,

I'm currently gathering the necessary paperwork for my Tier 1 Visa application and I have a different mailing address on my bank statements than my current home address. I work at a university and live in university housing so I prefer to have my personal bank information sent to my parent's address where I know it's safe. Will this cause my application to be flagged or rejected?

I was planning on explaining this in my cover letter but it still makes me nervous - I'm terrified I'll be rejected on some technicality and with the changes starting in April this may be my last chance.

Thanks so much for the guidance!

This should not be a problem. Bank statements are to verify maintenance funds and salary payments in, they are not used for address proofs.

The personal bank or building society statements should clearly show:
- the applicant’s name;
- the account number;
- the date of the statement;
- the inancial institution’s name and logo;
- transactions covering the three month period, that there are enough funds present in the account (the balance must always be at least £2,800 or £800, as appropriate).

Only the most recent statement must be dated within one month of the date of application.
