Dilemma: Flight tickets bought, no EU settlement decision yet!

Post by Topsibelle » Thu Aug 29, 2019 5:08 pm

I'm in a jam. I bought tickets for Oct half term for myself and my 2 children to Nigeria back in Feb.
I assumed my renewal for Zambrano would have been done. It expired in May, l sent it for renewal in March. It was denied. I applied for EU settlement scheme in May and I'm still waiting. It seems very bleak now and I'm concerned that even if l travel how do l get back into the UK?

I have called the EU settlement scheme resolution centre so many times. I have sent emails and they keep saying the caseworker is working on it. I also have an ailing 80 year old father who is desperate to see me.

Does anyone know what l can do please? I didn't think it would take this long. My appeal case for the Zambrano is for Nov 3rd which is really not helpful.

I would appreciate your input and advise.

Thanks

Contact your MP to escalate the issue with the EU Resolution Center. This seems to help when people are in difficult circumstances.
My posts express what I believe are the facts, based on the best of my knowledge, about the topics discussed in this forum. They do not constitute immigration advice.

I have. I'm waiting for him to respond. I'm just trying not to panic.

Do you have a COA?

I recently went on holiday to Europe with my British child (I'm a non-EU national, and went to visit my husband who was working in EU).

When I re-entered the UK, I showed them my COA and they let us back in.
In my case, I had even received a rejection while I'd been out of the country, but as I was still within the time limit for being allowed to appeal, the folks at customs allowed me back into the UK.
And, in my case, my child was even traveling on his non-British passport, as their British passport had been with the home office when we needed to travel.

When I went, I felt like it was a bit of a risk, but I also didn't want to feel like I was trapped inside the UK, and that my immigration status was affecting my ability to live my life.

With that said, in my case, if worst had come to worst, and I'd had to go back to my home country - I was prepared to do so.

Thank you for your reply.

We are going to Nigeria. I'm terrified of not being allowed to board the flight from Nigeria. If we can board the flight then the rest will be easy with the immigration officials in the UK. I don't want to be stuck in Nigeria and make my kids miss school. I do have my COA. I'm really praying that my residence permit comes before the scheduled day of travel.

It will be extremely reckless to embark on this risky venture and put the children's education at risk. You will not even be allowed to board a flight back to the UK.

Wait for the response before going.

Thanks Obie 🙂

I could risk it with COA if we were going to Europe but not Nigeria.
