Discrepancy in Payslips... Please help

Post by oneITguy » Fri Aug 01, 2008 2:21 pm

Hi,
I am planning to apply teir 1 general in september 2008.
I was in UK from my India Company on assignment for around 9.5 months from July 07 to Apr 08. I was earning only UK salary during the time I was in UK and getting UK Payslips and I would be claiming points on my UK Payslips.
My company had given me letter stating that my annual gross in UK would be 29000 GBP and the same is shown in my WP when I reached to UK (So my monthly gross should be 2417£). Company has committed to pay all the taxes on my behalf and My Net Pay 1800£ (in hand) was constant for all the months till the time I was in UK as committed to me by my company.

Now when I am calculating on the basis of gross paid to me, I am getting eligible for Tier 1 but the problem is shown below.

When I started receiving my Pay slips, My GROSS Pay is showing same as my NET Pay. Infact gross pay should be more as I stated earlier.
I can be eligible only if Gross Pay is as per letter given to me and not the Net Pay. My company may not give me letter only stating the Net amount paid to me and my annual gross.

When I raised this concern to my company, I got the reply is “Your gross pay will change on a monthly basis depending on your taxable gross pay as we focus on the net pay to you.â€

Since I have no experience of working in UK for Indian companies, I do find this strange. (i.e.- Gross = Net, so no tax deductions on payslips, ... hhhm). Anyhow, coming back to the question - yes, you can use these payslips as evidence, *but* you can claim points for gross salary (=net salary) being reflected on the payslips (and not the gross salary mentioned in the letter).

Since such a letter is not an acceptable evidence, I do not think CW will consider it .. even if you include it in your application.

Maybe others, with similar circumstances, will be able to correct me if I am wrong.
