Why is there an impression that a marriage certificate is required only when the dependent (spouse) is accompanying / travelling later? Marriage certificate is an evidence of current marital status of the applicant.

Please refer to my query above!july2010 wrote:I have the spouse name on passport and I can provide a photocopy of marriage certificate. Once I go for dependent visa, I will produce the original also.
I would like to know, in case I do not submit original marriage certificate, will my application be rejected based on this?

As rightly said Marriage certificate is an evidence of current marital status of the applicant. Spouse name in the passport will not suffice the requirement.july2010 wrote:I have the spouse name on passport and I can provide a photocopy of marriage certificate.
