Document Retrieval

Post by thepaw » Mon Feb 06, 2012 9:54 pm

Hey guys, a close friend of mine is in a sticky situation and isn't sure what to do.

She applied for her post-study work visa in early January I believe, but has a flight booked to return to the United States on the 10th February in order to see her family & attend her brother's wedding. She hasn't heard from UKBA regarding her application which seems to have been caught up in the Christmas backlog.

I see a document retrieval form for Tier 2 & Tier 5 applications, but what about Tier 1? I think she's willing to forgo her application in order to get her passport back but there doesn't seem to be a facility for this for Tier 1 applications strangely.

Do you think the US Embassy will grant her a temporary passport based on compassion - what avenues should she explore?

I've said to her the best option is to go to the US embassy and plead and hopefully she can get a temp passport or some sort of arrangement. The latest she can get her documents in order to still travel is the 16th - anyone with experience in this situation?

Thanks for any info.

Ask her to request HO to cancel her application and send the passport back. She cant get a temporary travel doc if her passport is with the HO and ideally she cannot be away from the country, what would happen when she comes back.

best way is to request HO to urgently send the Passport back, the phone numbers are stated on the Application forms
