does conviction affect HSMP and leave to remain?

does conviction affect HSMP and leave to remain?

Hi I want to apply for HSMP and leave to remain early next year. I definately qualify regarding the scores. However I have a court conviction for 'failing to pay a bus fare' this year. The result is a fine. I don't think it would influence HSMP application but am not sure about the application for leave to remain. According to the policy people with conviction of >1 year imprision can not get leaves but how about such minor convictions?
does anyone have any ideas or know about their policies? Thanks.
