HE has been a student for 2 yrs in the uk, then we both went to pak to get married and now he has a residence permit for 2 yrs after his s tudent visa was expired. so he can work here for 2 yrs. im a brit cit.

will he need a coa to register marriage here?

So what sort of visa does he have now? A spouse visa? If so, is it for 27 months rather than for 2 years?

Also, your Pakistani Marriage is recognised in the UK, or else he would not have been issued a spousal visa. I don't think it is necessary to register your wedding again. Most people i know don't need that.
You can however have your documents deposited in the Foreign Registry Office, which can keep it on record and provide you with copies of your documents should you misplace them in future.

I am nearly 100% certain you don't need to register your marriage again.

By virtue of Pakistan being a Commonwealth country, you might not even be able, or required to do so.
