Does photographs, cakes and all that really matter?

Post by Jammydogger » Mon Nov 02, 2009 2:58 pm

My boyfriend and I planning to get married. My LTR doesn't expire until April 2010. I don't want the whole big hoopla of a wedding.

Does it really matter when apply for a spouse visa? My mom recently died and I just can't see myself in the white dress, photos, cake and all. I can always do all that later down the line.

Firstly sorry to hear about the recent passing away of your mum. I had 2 family members die this month too!

As for the whole big white wedding thing - I'm British and got married in December 2006. My husband then applied for a spouse visa. We did not submit any photographs of our wedding day, any receipts for the ring, dress etc, no copies of any wedding invitations etc, we only submitted the Marriage Certificate itself and he still obtained a spouse visa. What we did submit which I felt was more important was proof of our financial means and ability to support ourselves without recourse to public funds!

Good luck with your situation anyway, I'm sure it will all work out even without the white dress!
