Does the EU recognise EEA & non-EEA de facto status?

Post by kinsja » Wed Jul 20, 2005 1:57 am

Hello,

I am Australian, my partner is Irish and we live in Sydney. My partner qualifies for a Spouse visa as a de facto spouse here in Australia, but he has not needed to apply for this yet as he has a business sponsorship visa.

We want to move to Europe next year. Does anyone know if de facto status is recognised in the EU? If my partner had a de facto Spouse visa for Australia, is this reciprocated in EU countries? Would I be able to live and work in Europe as his de facto spouse?

Does anyone know where I can go to find out more information on this?

Thanks in advance for your assistance on this! :)
