does my wife has to go entry clearance?

I've recently get my Indefinite leave to remain, but no sure which way to do is the best to deal for my wife's case.

1. we've married more than 2 years, married in UK
2. she's been in UK since Aug 2000
3. she's Post study work visa is going to expeir begining of July this year

we've been told by one of solicitor that she has to get entry clearnce in order to change her Visa dependent on me, but in that case she will lose her 10 year long stay and won't be able to apply ILR based on it at AUG this year. and she has to wait 2 more year then to apply for ILR.

I don't know if FLR(M) is best for her now. please advise.

She doesn't have to switch to flr(m). If she's in the UK lawfully and is so close to getting ILR based on 10 years long residence, she should just wait until August and apply for ILR then.
