Dual national with Permanent Resident - Returning to UK on a different passport

Hello,

We need to travel as a matter of urgency but found ourselves with the following situation. First I lay the circumstances for my son and wife. The question follows.

1. My son: - he is dual national British/USA. His British passport has expired so we are planning to travel with his USA passport. We didn't start the process to renew his British passport yet since we are thinking it will be better if we have the expired passport with us on return. No issues for your son. He can exit and re- enter using his American passport.

2. My wife - She is also a dual national, Turkish and USA in her case and she has permanent residence in the UK linked to her Turkish passport. Her Turkish passport is also expired with renew in process but her new passport is not with her yet. She still has the expired passport since in the case of Turkey they take it away when you collect the new one. So, similar she plans to travel on her USA passport and to reenter the UK she will also use the USA passport while having handy her BRP card and expired Turkish passport. BRP are linked to persons, not passports.
She might be using the e- gate upon returning, so no questions asked.

Question:

Given above circumstances, we are wondering whether either my son or my wife would run through any problems. We understand there wouldn't be problems to enter with USA passport but the remaining question is whether they would have any issues if they do not travel/exit UK with their USA passports in the next 6 months. Nope
