EEA FP and a temporary passport

Post by foiler » Tue Jun 22, 2010 5:44 pm

First post but this forum board has been of great help so far navigating immigration to the UK.

I have been accepted to study at the University of Edinburgh in the fall for a Masters. Although I have been married to my American husband for three years I am currently in the process of getting a new German passport with my married name on it. I should have it by Dec. I am currently using a temporary German passport with my maiden name on it that will expire in late April 2011.

Will we have any trouble applying for a EEA family permit for my husband if I have a temporary passport?

Not sure if it matters, but we currently live in the states and will be making the application for over here.

Thanks!

I can't see how it matters. Even a temporary passport proves that you are a German Citizen.

you have a passport that currently shows you are a German citizen it is not a temporary passport and it is not expired hence it does not matter

Well it says temporary on the front and it is green rather than red. It is machine readable but I do not believe biometric. I hope it will not be a problem but I am just trying to verify everything will work out.

It is not a problem. It clearly identifies you as a German Citizen.
