EEA 1 vs EEA 2 processing time

Post by Czdude » Sun May 24, 2015 7:09 pm

Hi, my wife (an EU national) and I (an American) sent a joint EEA1/EEA2 application on the 17 March 2015. A letter (by email and post) was sent regarding receipt a couple days later, and my COA was received the following week.

We've not heard anything yet and while I realize this is par for the course for the EEA2, according to UK immigration law (The Immigration (EEA) Regulations 2006, 16(1) and (2)):

Issue of registration certificate

16.—(1) The Secretary of State must issue a registration certificate to a qualified person immediately on application and production of—
(a)a valid identity card or passport issued by an EEA State;
(b)proof that he is a qualified person.
(2) In the case of a worker, confirmation of the worker’s engagement from his employer or a certificate of employment is sufficient proof for the purposes of paragraph (1)(b).

Wouldn't that suggest that my wife's EEA1 is rather delayed based on the timeline of "immediately" and given this, should she inquire as to where her EEA1 is? I know it's not really required for anything, but would be good to know where that is.

If we are to inquire, where/how to do it?
