EEA Entry Clearance -- arriving at airport

Post by kylieh » Wed Aug 19, 2009 10:55 am

Hello

I'm a non-EEA spouse (Australian nationality) of a Netherlands passport holder. I have successfully applied for an EEA family permit and have the stamp in my passport.

My wife and I were originally planning to arrive at Heathrow together. However, we've now had a change of plans and I will arrive a week or so after her. I'm aware that the rules of the EEA family permit require that the EEA sponsor needs to either arrive into the UK with the non-EEA family member or already be in the UK prior to the non-EEA family member's arrival at the border.

Does anyone know whether I'm likely to have to provide proof that my wife is already in the UK? I can't think of a way that I can provide this proof as she'll have only been in the UK for a very short period before I arrive.

I would appreciate if anyone could provide advice on this issue. Thanks in advance.

Just make sure she is at the airport or has his phone switched on, if she has a UK one.

If they are not satisfied with you answers, they can ascertain using those means. You don't have to provide documentary evidence to prove it.

Or she could email you a copy of her flight details and boarding pass, if she still has them, and you could carry them with you? (Sorry Obie, couldn't resist continuing with Plum70's observation/correction )

I am always open to correction, and i humbly welcome any constructive one.

I apologise for any oversight and hope that my mixed up on the gender of the EEA national doesn't invalidate my contribution or caused him undue unease or distress.

Thanks a lot ladies, very appreciated indeed

Hi

You don't have to provide any document at the airport, the reason is that you already had provided the entire necessary documents to have the visa stamped in your passport.

Most likely they will ask you a few silly questions that I even had from the officer 4 years ago.
EXAMP: Q: what the purpose of your visit to the UK
A: is not a visit is Home

If you feel that that officer has embarrass you with the questions offer Him or her to call your partner.

All the best

Wow -- just saw extra replies. Thanks also.

No worries regarding the gender mistake.

Very impressed by this site.
