EEA Family permit application times

Post by ambre99 » Sat Oct 30, 2010 9:52 pm

Hi,
Thanks in advance for any replies.
My husband recently applied for an EEA Family permit and its been over a month but we haven't heard anything. I called the embassy a few times and everytime we hear a different story. The last time I called they said that they can take upto 60 days to process the application so I shouldn't call and wait for the embassy to contact us! And also that the application is with the home office who will now decide the outcome.
Don't they have to process the family permit applications quicker than that?
I am already in the UK with our son, is there anything else I can do instead of just calling the embassy to check the status of the application?

Thanks for sharing Guerro.

I have been reading about processing times on UKBA website for the EEA family permit. In some countries on average they have been processing family permit applications within 15-30 days but some places the number of days are extrordinary i.e. 120 days!!

I am sure the EU guidelines don't allow the member states to take that long for processing applications??

can anyone please shed some light on this. I will be very grateful. Its our son's first birthday in couple of weeks. I am already in the UK and would love my husband to be there with us. Its been exactly 30 (working) days and we haven't heard anything from the embassy.

It depends on the Country where your husband has applied for the Permit as they have centralized the process, before the permits where received, reviewed and produced at most consulates which was faster, now after delivering the applications they are forwarded to the main consulate of the region in some places it might even be forwarded to a different country :S which makes it very slow, the last time that I got mine it took 45 days under the new method. Good luck.
