EEA FP Right to work

I am soon to join my wife in England. I have been reading some posts which says employers find it difficult employing EEA FP holder as they are not sure whether they have the proper documentation to work.

Please those of you who have knowledge about how to approach and convince an employer that I have right to work should provide me with some info on how to go about it.

I intend to start working immediately.

EEA family permit is a valid document to prove your right to work in the UK, according to my phone call to the Home Office last week. You can ask them to call the home office employer help line to confirm. But it is not on the document in either List A or List B, so if it is not written on the paper.....

I am also in a similar situation, you could immediately apply for your residence card. But it takes several weeks to get your certificate of application, which is a valid document shown on list B.

I do not think EEA Family permit allows you to work in the UK. It is more a short term visit visa (valid for six months only) for non-EEA family members of EEA citizens.

What you need is a residence permit, which does allow you to work.

I would not rely on the advice of the Home Office by phone. These forums are littered with examples of people given the wrong advice. And the Home Office does not take responsibility if you are adversely affected by its own advice.

I understand your point as well (If it is not listed in the official document, one should not believe what they over the phone). It is just so unfairly hard when one wants to smoothly transfer from one job to another between different countries. Sometimes it would be even easier if the partner would not be from EEA region (If they have a job offer from an employer's sponsorship), as then they could apply together through the normal visa application procedure, which costs more money but one has the choice to make it fast.
