Dear Lilly,

My husband and I have seen your case and we were really shocked about this. We applied for the EEA2 Family Visa and we hope that it will not take two years. May I ask that you got any explanation why it was taken such a long time? Is this normal?

The people in the HO have no idea how we are feeling.

Take care,

Just to let you know I've got my Residence Permit Card (is actually a sticker stamp on the passaport) this morning. After 2 painful years it is all done

The process was finished by 10th December but the call center only told me the decision was made on the 14th, and that they've dispatched the docs on the 4th, received today.

Good luck everyone, hope your process goes better than mine did :)

Have a good 2010,

@lolo78
My application is from April 2009, and still no news from HO. I have sent 2 reminders, wrote to the MP, and all the documents they needed, but still no repply. I requested my passort to attend my father's funeral in December, I have received it 5 days "late" laiter. More than that, they sent an empty passport with a letter saying that I have to apply for a family permit from my country wen I got back there.Of course I have not been there, because it would have put me in more trouble, as my wife would not co op withoute me. her work, and two children, one in nuresery and the other in school.
Just wondering if it better to go trought naturalisation.

My tought is this; The person who's dealing with your case, must see your wages and your spouse's. Theyprobably wont appreciate that fact their earning is less than yours...More you and I suffer, more joy they get.

Good luck.

hello there

Post by savas1234 » Thu Feb 04, 2010 2:58 pm

hi All
i would like to share some experiences with you as i was searching the net and came accross this forum
i red alot about the waiting time for processing the EEA4 application form, and it seems like no one has the appropriate clue of what is going on!!
i am sorry to say that but i am really really suffering and there is no where or nobody to go to and speak up about what is going on as i do not think that a listening ear wil be given anyway.
for over 2 months i am not able to sleep, i am paranoid, depressed, and i think that i have started to have a phsycological troubles! why is that happening to me?
well well i feel that i lost my freedom in the country which always talks about human rights and freedom!
i am married to an eea member since 2003 i got my 5 years stay which was pretty quick about 3 weeks only, but since i am battling in this country how ?
Right i dont know where to start from, but i'll give few examples
i bought a house i am not able to put my name on the deed thats basicaly because i do not have indefinit leave therefore it's only in my partners name!! remember that the deposit in full was paied from my own pocket that is apart from doing it up and buying the furniturs etc..
i tried to register in the electoral role as to be registered on my (suppose to be) property but surely i am not british or european so my application was turned down!!
i tried to apply for loan just trying to improve my life as anywone in this country you know as to try running my own business for example, but ofcourse the answer was in all banks and company who lend NO why ? for the same reason explained above.
thank god i was lucky enough to be employed since i came to this country in 2002 when was more opportunities otherwise i wouldn't be able to get an employment for same reason, i tried to apply for so many jobs and in most of them i mean all i managed to gain success in the first interview, however when i was asked to come back for the final interview along with passport and other documents the big surprise oohh sorry we thought you are european, but it doesnt matter you seem to be nice guy lets have a look at your papers , then oooh sorry u dont have an indefinit ? oh we cannot give u this job as there is no guarantee that you'll get the permenant stay after this 5 years expire!!!!!
i really have lots of examples but anyway
now i applied for my (10 years) residence and NOT as many of you in this site say indefinit NO i insist that the family member gets limited permenant while the eea member gets the full unlimited indefinit, i applied back in December 2008, i received a letter in December 2009 asking about additional documents in order for my application to be fully considered i submited that right away, in januaru 2010 i rang them to find out , and the saied that early in january a disision has been made! but ofcourse the refused to tell me whether its positive or not, now its 4th of february and yet nothing has arrived from them.
i know i have writin huge page but thanks for everyone who had the time to read it and understand where i came from..
all the best to you all.

Hey savas1234, I am in the same situation as yours. Exactly very similar timeline as well, In January they told me a decission is been made, also, their delays are disgusting, they really know how to break people's nerves. Never mind the lawyer did tell me that normally it takes the 3 to 4 weeks to receive the documents back, so is not just you, they are doing it to all of us.

Pls can you tell me that are you planning to apply for Naturalisation right away because my solicitor said that I am entitled to, 5 yrs on residence card + 16 months delays on my application.
If you have any advise regarding this pls update me.
Good luck

Hello Tomuk

Post by savas1234 » Fri Feb 05, 2010 3:38 pm

Hi Tomuk
thank you for reading my post, and i know that there must be alot of people in this country who suffer same situation like us, but they are either scared to speak up their mind or they prefer to stay off the war :)
anyway regarding your question about the citizenship rules: here is another pain in the bakcside as dealing with HO with all sorts of application is becoming an absolut NIGHTMARE!!!
my solicitor confirmed that the waiting time is not counted towards the obligatory period which you need to conduct in order to be able to apply for the nationality, however other loyers gave me different news , what is the funny thing about it that each one has given me a complete different information than the other and yet when i contacted the HO it seems like nobody knows anything properly about the law and the rules in this country as there are lots of contradictions within the answers you get from all sources!
but hay let me tell you something people who makes rules here or anywhere on this planet are surely not brighter than me or you , therefore i started to follow a new policy in my life here which i never used to before which is after gathering the information from all different sources i come back to my minde and try to analyze things , what i can assure you especially nowadays here , and in order to avoid encountering heart attack; alway stick to the worst replay you get , because as you see we have clear indirect message from the HO that WE DONT WANT YOU HERE ANYMORE, yes my friend trust me they are alot happier if one of us ring them and say send my documents back i do not wish to proseed with this case anymore, yes thats what explains ther letter they sent me after years of waiting saying at the buttom: if you no longer wish to pursue this application then i would be grateful if you inform me so that any documents currently held returned to you ???!! Imagin
please forgive me if i have a bit of negative openion but as i mentioned i started to lose the hope in everything
take care

Hi Guys !
yes we are in the same ship sailing to unknown distination.
@ Savas, take a good care of yourself, it seems that you had all the troubles of the world, I feel the pain with you, it's weired you couldn't get your name on the deed becasue of your resiential status (limited to 5 years)I had no problem at all when I bought my house, neither with the bank for a mortgage 25 years. I think you had been unliker on this matter. And also for your job they should not refuse you work becasue of you limited stay, I think you had been discriminated. Witch undustry have you appliyed work ?

Jsut to tell you that 'im still waitng for my remanant residence, nearly a year now.
good luck

Dear Breaker29 thank you very much for the lovely comments, and i hope you are the next, i know exactly how it feels please try not to stress your self that much because in this situation you give them the reason to be happy , the more you suffer the more they enjoy it, i assure you that you will definitely get it no matter how long it takes, in the end you have served your Compulsory period and they know that by law they have no even least right to refuse your case.
please try to do what i did the last couple of months before i received my documents, try to engage your self in as many activities as you can, read some books maybe , although i know that all these would make no sense to you at the present, but really if you can do these the time will pass quicker and suddenly you'll find what you are waiting for is between your hands.
take care
Good luck

EEA4 sent today

Post by anwarj » Mon Feb 22, 2010 1:25 pm

Sent my EEA4 application in today 22/02/2010. Lets see how long it takes :( given the horror stories I've read here so far

I am a non EEA national (Canada) with an EEA National spouse applying for EEA4. Have been in the UK for 6.5 years, initially on a 1 year EEA family permit, then had extension for a further 5 years which my wife applied for and I was on as a family member. Home Office lost our passports last time (5 years ago) so hopefully they can restore our confidence by getting it right this time.

Sent in lots of documents, her and my p60's and p45's, the original residence permit letter and my original 5 year endorsement letter, current passports.

I didnt however send in my old expired passport which has the permit stamp or any bank statements so hoping this will not adversely affect the application. Maybe I should have also sent in tenancy and mortgage agreements?

Will update this post as it happens... Hopefulyl HO have got things sorted out now and we will have our documents back in less than 6 months. Its hard without passports!

Good luck to all other appliers

hi Mr Anwarj, wishing you very good luck , with home office its always hopeless though, anyway i can tell you that even if you think that you have provided all the required documents the home office with no doubt will ask you about extra additional and that i bet not before at least 8-12 months from the date you sent according to their performance these days , unless as you mentioned something changes within their system.
all the best
take care

We applied using EEA3 and EEA4 and got our passports back a week short of 4 months. COA took 2 weeks time. It wasn't a very straightforward application because it was a self-sufficient case and still didn't take long. The whole point is to provide every single paper from the beginning. We haven't been asked to provide any additional documents.

Thanks
