She was told/ or thought she didn't need to apply for any residence permits for me as I was a minor. The reason I have now applied is I wish to apply for citizenship and a British passport to make things a bit easier for myself. I put on my form the dates I wish in education for and my work history but only supplied documents for the last 6 years - since I graduated from University and had to get my own place and a proper job. Will they reject me based on no evidence of for example being in secondary school during certain dates? It would seem a tad pedantic since I can prove I've been working full time and have a place to live etc.
RCs are optional for all, adults and minors.

You probably acquired PR around 17 years ago as the dependent of a Union citizen/qualified person who was your sponsor (parent).
Although its perfectly fine to apply in own right.

Either way its all going to depend on the documentary supporting evidence submitted; its needs to be rock-solid (if not unimpeachable).
Noone get PR just for being in UK for xx years.

After 20 days waited and £768 was lost since the decision letter was made ,finally I received my card 10 minutes ago.
THE LONG AND HARD GAME IS OVER ! I can escape from the cage and take a breath of fresh air.
In view of the money I lost, I strongly advise you don't make any travel arrangements or buy lane tickets until you have your PR card in your hand if you had to travel with PR Card.
Good luck to those people who are still waiting .....

Here's mine timelines (Joint application, Non-EEA and an EU citizen application):

Evening all,
Please see below my timeline for the application as an EU national. I've only come across this forum after applying for the card and I must say that some of the messages on here got me really worried, however having now received the card, it's a relief at last.

Application sent: 3/05/16
Application received: 4/05/16
Payment taken: 6/05/16
Confirmation e-mail: never received
ID requested: 16/06/16 & 4/07/16
ID received: 14/07/16

DCPR dated: 13/09/16
DCPR received: 17//09/16

I'll let you do the maths!

In terms of the docs, I've only sent 5 years worth of P60 letters, a letter from the employer (4.5 years) and a confirmation from Uni (1 year). Also, my EU passport has recently been re-issued and didn't confirm EU citizenship for 5 years but luckily this has worked out just fine.

Good luck to those who are still waiting, no doubt your cards will come through very soon :)

Why are people here so paranoid? Some question the absence of the confirmation. It is sent automatically, however sometimes it goes to junk mail and ur settings need to be changed. Some question if a prepaid envelope special delivery makes a difference. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. It says it will be returned by second class signed for. Second class means 3-5 days from days of posting. Now each case is different. Some cases take longer than others for the simple reason that they have to investigate. Do u think your papers are laying in a locker waiting to be picked up? The HO checks on ur antecedents and the veracity of your docs. Sometimes ur HMRC info is not uptodate because of lapses on the part of employers.
Just dont be silly and petty. Use common sense. You will see on the average it takes 16 weeks + to be processed. This is a straight forward case. It will go up by a few days if there is a problem or even if the case goes to a more jobsworth officer. The forum is meant to give you an indication not a specific date. I have questions too but then you people are so paranoid and childish its very annoying.

Hi venomby,
Surely where there are 100 people there will be 100 of different opinions, and isn’t the purpose of tis forum to provide answers for those who are not sure about various aspects of application. What is a childish and paranoid question to one, might appear different to someone else, so if you are getting annoyed about it, stop reading, and even better - stop giving advice on something you might not be completely correct about. You mention 16 weeks, but fail to mention that you are talking about applications from EEA (EU) nationals, which might cause even more anxiety for those non EEA applicants who are waiting for 6 months by now. Some questions might indeed be silly, but hey, it is nice to know there are people in the same boat.

Hello All,

Living in the UK 2005-2009, then left for 18 months to return end of august 2011. Applied for PR 5 year + 1 day after my return. I had applied for an EEA1 before as well as the sponsor of an EEA2 for my husband and the home office had me on the system. Got my confirmation email and now on to the long wait.

Application sent: 30/08/2016
Documents received: 31/08/2016
Payment taken: 01/09/2016
Confirmation email: 20/09/2016
Documents Requested Back: ?
DCPR dated: ?
DCPR received: ?

Good luck everyone and to the grumpy post above - yes, some people are nervous / anxious and paranoid because their future and that of their families depends on the application. If you dont like it dont read. It helps a lot of us to feel "in the same boat" together with others.

I don't know how long it takes, but from reading people s posts it seems non eu can take a bit longer and the confirmation email is not indicative of anything much as there are cases of people who got their PR but never received that email. All I can think of is keep monitoring also your junk/spam folder in case it accidentally ended up there

Hi I
I am a eu citizen been in uk for 20 years. I had a resident permits from 2000 until 2005. Did not apply for PR. Can I apply for PR at any 5 year period of exerting treaty rights, In 2004 until 2011 . 7 years was continually working, In 2012 I was not working for 6 moths will this affect my application if I apply for PR from 2004 to. 2009 I I would have maintained my residence statues for 12 months in 2010', So 7 years continually working .In 2012 I stop working for 6 months will this affect my application? Do I have to prove I was in uk during these 6 months and do I need to provide all my payslips since 2004 until present to prove I have been in the uk?
Thanks

our permanent residence cards had finally arrived !
below is my timeline:
we done as joint application for PR (I am EU and my husband non-eu as my dependant)
Application first send: 01/02/2016, not money taken out of the account, 45 days later on 15/03/16 everything was sent back to my house saying they could not withdrawn the money of my account. I then found out the expire date on the credit card was wrong. I was annoyed by the fact that I kept calling to the "helpline" for the fact that the money was not taken and for 4 weeks they said it was normal and I should wait
anyway we resent everything back on the same day: 15/03/16 with postal order this time
Biometrics letter for my husband received on 27/03/16
Coa letter received for him on 24/04/16
his Biometrics card received 16/9/2016
our passports and my permanent residence card also arrived on 16/09/2016 in a different envelope

so at the time that we sent our application the average processing time was 4 months for EU, even with a dependant non-eu, I guess now with the brexit things are slower but it coming out on the 6 months sharp!
I have a very straight application case as I have been continuously working for the past 10 years without any gap, all paperwork needed in place as well a british son which I had proved my treaty rights 4 years ago
for this experience I can tell that every single case is different and unfortunately we depend on whomever take your case really. for instance I have read before when they have a problem withdrawing your money in some cases they will send a letter asking for an alternative payment. I guess we were just unlucky!
Good luck everyone!

We all know that from the 1st of March 2016. All the applications sent either by EU or Non EU nationals have all seen their application been extraordinary slow right from the taking of fees to application acknowledgement to Biometric enrolment. Compare to when it takes them between 3-4weeks for a COA to come by for Non EU applicants.

My Tme line as Non EU applicant.
Application Received : 07/03/2016
Fees collected/cleared: 11/03/2016
Biometric letter received: 14/04/2016 Dated 05/04/2016.
Biometric enrolled: 14/04/2016.
COA: NOT YET RECEIVED.

ANOTHER WAITING GAME HAS JUST BEGUN.

GOOD LUCK TO US ALL.

Jeez, 5 months for an EEA application. That's crazy. I wonder if it has something to do with a backlog from before the referendum.

Hi ,
Just wanted to give my experience and time line for Permanent residence that I applied on the basis of retention of rights EEA family.
Briefly, I am a NON - eea national, I received my family permit as a dependant of EEA national on the 28th June 2011. We got married on the 31st of JAn 2011. The time took for Family permit was approximately 4 months. Things didnt work out between us and we got divorced in December 2014. Since, the marriage lasted for more than 3 years I hired a immigration solicitor who applied for right of residence (RoR). Applied ROR on the 16 th FEB 2015 and received it on 26th July 2015 . Since the total stay of 5 years is started from the date of marriage and includes both categories ( married and ROR) I applied for Permanent Residence (PR).
Application Sent (PR) - 28th March 2016
Application Received by HO - 29th March 2016
Payment taken - 11th April 2016
COA received - 5th May 2016
Biometrics received and done - 28th May 2016
Documents received with letter stating that PR card will be sent in 10 working day - 19th September 2016
PR Card received - 20th September 2016

It has been a nerve racking experience, and i do understand what it feels not knowing ... hence i post my time line and hope that everyone who has applied for similar visas received theirs as soon as.

Good luck !

Hi everyone,

I am interested in applying for the permanent residency card. I have lived in UK since 2009 and I have been a student ever since. Currently I am in university and next year I will graduate. I am not too sure what sections will apply to me since I am over 21 years and I am not dependent on my parents' income. Is/was anyone in the same situation like I am?

Any help will be greatly appreciate it
Thank you.

Hey there,

I am actually about to apply, having exercised treaty rights as a student + a short self-sufficient intermission for a few months, so we are in a similar boat I think. Usual suspects here: need to have had 5 years of CSI, letters from Uni(s) confirming status as well as explaining how the courses were funded.

You may have acquired the holy grail of PR as early as 2014 if you had a Union citizen sponsor (parent?) in UK who was a qualified person.

If you are sponsored then your activity in UK is immaterial; (no need for CSI etc etc).

If under 21 at the time you were still a minor (under EU law) so no proof of financial dependency required.

Yes, free movement really is that free and easy.

I am also a little bit confused with the word sponsor. Does this mean that it was the person who took care of me financially? I have undertook my GCSEs and A-Levels in England and throughout those 4 years my parents took care of me. After that, since I am a home based student I got my finances from Student Finance England and my parents had no contribution throughout the Uni years. Also, can I ask what does CSI stands for?

Again, I really appreciate your help.
