Turns out the 6 months starts from when the payment is taken.

Called the Home Office today they took my details then promised a call back in 5 working days.

They called back few hours later to tell me that nothing was sent out yet, the case is in progress and the 6 months is just an approximate processing time so I should just wait longer. (At the very least I managed to confirm that my address change went through but that's all)
Oh, thats really good to know, did you receive your documents back and how long did it take to receive them from sending in your app?
I haven't asked for documents back yet. Planning to do that this week.

Hi,

I need an advise please on NCS. I called my local office to book appt to check citizenship form. Been asked for date when my card been issued. It was this month but my supporting documents are from 2009- 2014I don't want wait a year to apply for British citizenship. So she refused to book appt. I thought part of this appt is so they can call HO and check dates for you. Apparently in my local office they don't call only checking form and taking copies. Is the other way to check date when I equire my residency except SAR request please. I live in Hampshire, anyone had similar issue here? What date should I gave them?

Many thanks

Hi a friend of mine is a registrar and she does all the British citizenship checks and ceremonies, she informs me that they don't do that. The council just acts as a checking service so you don't have to send in your documents to HO and they check through all of your forms to make sure everything is completed properly. If you haven't got your DCPR yet, i would wait to get it as they also need to take a copy of it for the citizenship. The thing is with DCPR you don't actually need it, unless you want to get British citizenship in which case it means you don't have to hand in proof of residence and employment for the 5 years prior.

Once you get your DCPR you should be able to do your citizenship straight after you receive your DCPR if you have been here since 2009.

The receptionist or clerk is misinformed. You do not need to hold PR card for a year before applying to naturalise.

Hi,
to my understanding i tried to explain her.Even on booking form online is asking for a date when :
When did you receive your indefinite leave to remain or a permanent residence card (adults only).
What should I put here? Doesn't allowed me to go further without date?
Thank you.

Suggest enter your date on basis of acquiring PR status back in 2014 (or whenever you believe it was).
Clearly if you enter 2016 (date from card) and are not married to a British spouse you will be refused.

Hello all, I am a newbie but would like to share mine experience. This is for anyone wishing to travel before they receive their PR cards (biometric format). I have found this forum very helpful and informative.

I am EU national and my hubby's non EU. We booked a holiday in the Middle East in Jan this year for Sept departure with expectations that our DCPR and the PR cards would arrive by then bearing in mind that the EEA2 was approved within four months, we were naïve and expected the same timeline.

Anyway, we sent off our joint application on the 24th of March 16, payment taken about 8 days later. We never received any confirmation email. COA for non EU was received early May after he enrolled for the biometrics.

By August, we heard nothing which was when I started following the forum quite closely and found that the HO was taking six months or more to approve applications. My panic level started to go up the roof as we paid a lot for the holiday and there’s no refund. Also partner needed to apply for Visa to the middle East and Visa would definitely be rejected if he doesn’t have a valid residency in the UK. We had the foresight to request for our passports back before EEA2 expired. I read somewhere that HO don’t send passports back after EEA2 have expired.
By the first week of September, still nothing.

We booked a trip to Paris to celebrate anniversary. We were able to leave the UK without any problem. We traveled via Eurostar. At the gate, the officer asked for partner’s Schengen visa but I mentioned that he doesn’t need one as he’s travelling with me. I provided the marriage certificate and the officer simply said, “enjoy your trip”.

We enjoyed few days in Paris and on our way back, we had to go through two check points. The first one was the French immigration desk. The French immigration officer at the station had a bit of a problem. He had to get someone else involved as my partner needed a visa to enter the UK. After about 5mins, he stamped the passport with departure date from Paris. We then proceeded to UK immigration and we were asked why hubby's travelling without visa, I mentioned that I am EU and he's travelling with me and also that his PR application is with the HO. I provided marriage certificate, the officer also asked for proof of address and I gave him the utility bill (rental or mortgage agreement is a lot better though). The immigration made a phonecall and stamped partner’s passport with the EEA stamp and sent us on our way.

About two weeks before the trip, we applied for Visa to the Middle East without the stamp and it was rejected. Four days before the trip, we applied again using the stamp and it was approved on the day of the trip. The packing was very last minute but we were happy. We were able to leave the UK but still waiting for update from HO.

A week into our trip, we found out that our application was approved by the HO and delievered on 23rd Sept (the joy was inexplicable). The biometric PR card hadn’t been issued yet and the letter stated it would be issued within 10 working days. A family member sent us a picture of the letter.
By the last day of holiday, biometric card still hadn’t arrived. Got to the airport, showed the stamp to the airline staff who had to call her supervisor and she gave the thumbs up for the boarding cards. We went through security without any issues. Got to the departure gate and had a bit of problem with the airline staff. We always suspected that the biggest problem would be at the gate. The airline staff said the stamp wasn’t good enough and that my partner needs his residence card to get on the plane. I was panicking and was so nervous at the prospect of not boarding the plane. My partner showed the airline staff a picture of the PR approval letter from HO. The airline staff made a phonecall, took some scans and sent us on our way. We were so relieved to board the plane with little hassle.

We finally arrived in the UK and going through immigration, we had a problem again. I no longer worried as we are in the UK. We told the immigration officer that someone from the airline made a phone call and sent scans of our documents so we wouldn’t have any problem entering the UK. We also told him that the PR for my partner was approved. The officer asked us to wait while he looks for a log of the call. Anyway, after about 45min wait, he stamped partner’s passport with EEA ink and let us through. We were told that the airline should not have let my partner board the plane. I am so grateful to God because we took a huge risk.

My advise to anyone would be to wait for your documents before you travel. The risk is not worth it. You won't be able to relax. We are so grateful to God for his mercy and I had great faith in God and He came through for us.
My partner received his biometric permanent residence card 26 days after his approval letter was issued . Glory be to God. People rarely share their experience with the EEA stamp, so I thought I would share. The EEA stamp is not a guarantee. It’s only for a single entry into the UK, after that it’s pretty much useless. Leaving the UK is easy but entering is difficult without the proper document.

I hope this is the right forum to post this.

Hi,

I received all documents at the same time 11.10.2016 in 1 envelope. With my application I included self addressed prepaid special delivery envelope. In meantime I changed address which I notify HO. Never received email confirmation and yet all been delivered to new address.

Does any EU national who applied in June had any news yet? I applied on 16th June and still waiting. Regads

I helped a few friends with filling in their forms/applications and am tracking their timelines just out of interest/for this forum - one has a June timeline:

EEA national (France)
Sent: 11/06/16
Received: 13/06/16
Email: 18/07/16
(Never requested passport back as they can travel on their ID card)
Since then nothing, expecting it back mid-October or rather mid-November due to potential Brexit delays.
Friend just text me that they received their DCPR:

DCPR dated: 08/10/2016
DCPR received: I think Weds or Thurs this week so 12/10 or 13/10...approx. 4 months from start to finish, not too bad!
All information given is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

Hello all,

I hope you can help me with a Permanent Residence query. I am going to apply for a Document certifying Permanent Residence on the basis of exercising Treaty Rights over the last 5 years (working legally as a full time employee) as a European citizen (Bulgarian). However, I also worked illegally for about 3 years before that (without work permit which in my case was a Blue Registration certificate).

So, I am wondering how to fill in the table in Section 9 of the application form (page 47) where they require my activity in the UK from the date I entered the country until present. Do I include my illegal work? Or do I include only my activity over the last 5 years (i.e. legal work)? If I go with the latter, then what about the previous question where I have entered the actual date of arrival in the UK? There will be a gap, a time period with no information about it. I arrived in the UK in 2007 and started working illegally straight away. My legal work started in 2011. So, there will be a gap for the period 2007-2011 in the application form.

I called the Helpline at 0300 123 2253 with the above query and I was told the following:
1. They were surprised that I worked illegally with a contract paying my NIN and taxes. They said this is not illegal work if I paid my NIN and taxes. But, it was, as I didn’t have the work permit. I was hired without being asked for a work permit. I had a contract and paid all taxes and contributions. The Helpline told me this is employer’s problem, not mine. And also, they said they consider work to be illegal if I have letters from HM Revenue about it or any convictions which I don’t.
2. In regards to filling in the application form, and my activity in the UK in particular, the Helpline told me to fill in information for the last 5 years only, not for the whole period since arrival. Then I asked what about the gap between arrival and the start of the 5-year period, and the lady told me this application form is designed for people who have lived in the UK 5 years. So, they only want this information. This doesn’t make much sense to me. So, I am still not sure whether to provide information about 5 years only or to include the illegal work?

Any advice will be much appreciated.

…and just one more thing – I’d prefer to use the current Application form, not previous versions, as the latter may cause the case worker to enquire about additional information which is present in the current form, but not in the previous versions.

Thank you for the help!

@makaron, Yep, fill it all in.

Caseworker will work out which is your qualifying period. That's why you're paying her £65--

If you have a subsequent qualifying period of legal work you will not be penalised for the previous period of illegal working.
(That may just catch up with you if you have ambitions for citizenship later).
Read and sign the Declaration vouching for veracity of your application.

Good luck.
