Hi guys,

I need your help. I received this email from APAD - HOme Office.

Can someone explain this to me? What should I do? I got really confused.

Good morning

Thank you for your application to replace your BRC with a EU Settlement Scheme BRC (BRCE). On receipt of your application we contacted you to confirm the following:

Thank you for your application to exchange your biometric residence card (BRC) issued under the EEA Regulations for a biometric residence card that reflects the leave you have been granted under the EU Settlement Scheme.

Please note that a BRC issued under EEA Regulations provides you with an exemption from the requirement to obtain a visa to travel to another Member State of the European Union. A BRC issued under the EU Settlement Scheme does not, and if you choose to exchange your current BRC for a BRC issued under the EU Settlement Scheme, you will be required to apply for a Schengen visa to travel to another EU Member State. You only need to apply to replace your biometric residence card issued under the EEA Regulations when it expires and then only if you intend to travel outside the United Kingdom, as you can rely upon your digital status to prove your right to stay, work or study in the United Kingdom.

Can you please confirm that you are therefore content to proceed with your application? We are unable to proceed with your application until you have confirmed if you are content to proceed.

Please confirm how you wish to proceed urgently.

Thank you

------------------------
Does this mean that I have to be applying for visas every time I go to Spain or Italy? I am a Venezuelan national I don't need visas for the Schengen area. Should I just confirm that I want to proceed? or should I cancel that application? but then what should I do? My current BRC expires on September.

Thank you in advance for your help
No, this only means you can't use your EUSS card to allow you visa free entry to another member state. You can still rely on your passport if you are visa free national.

There is an update to EU settlement scheme if you got your upgraded card you can't update your ID anymore I don't know is temporary because of the virus or permanently
Anyway that's the link we followed before to update our ID details

I''ve received new BRC today and wasn't able to upate it as well. Looks like we just need to wait until COVID-19 situation is solved.
Btw what should we do with old card once they return it to us?

Applied for replacement BRCE under EU Settlement Scheme: end of Jan. Don't remember exact date, somewhere between 23rd and 31st.
Booked appointment same day in Croydon. Found free date and paid nothing. Uploaded all documents by myself
Appointment: 6 March
Received email to give consent to proceed: 12 March
Received BRC: 9 April

In the letter which came with new BRC there is nothing about what should I do with old card. Does it mean that I should keep it for now or better send it to Home Office?

So did u receive any other confirmation rather than the consent to proceed. In total how many months did u have to wait.
And finally did u contact them .
In total how many weeks.
Thanks

Tbh I didn't check the envelope and don't know what service they used. Postman delivered it directly into my hands.

Timeline is a bit different as we arrived in the UK in 2017; I came in with an EEA Family Permit back then and applied for an EEA2 Residence Card, which I then had to apply to convert to a PSS Card after I got my PSS status last September. Hope this helps.

The issue is i have an emergency flight to make in the next two weeks.

So my question is : Can i use my eea brc to travel or has it already been cancelled? because in the letter they said my old card hasbeen cancelled so i am scared to travel with it
?
Has anybody received recently their eu settlement card? if yes what do i need to do so mine get sent?

Yeah, it was Royal Mail. Didn't have to sign for it, or anything. Actually took me by surprise as my decision letter said that it had to be signed for. Hope this helps.

thanks a lot i do not know what to do anymore. they just left the decision letter and no card for me when i contacted them i got a reply saying the card is with them and they are closed because of the corona and will let me know when they will reopen. But if you have received your card last week that means they are sending cards out. Anybody in the same situation? i need to see my dad for health reasons

Hi All
Hope you are well. I was wondering if someone can help me with some info. I have settled status and I m a non EU. I would like to transfer my EU BRC to EUSS BRC. My current BRC is expiring end of July. My question is do I need to apply for the new card before my current one expires or I can do it anytime I like? So for an example, can I even apply for the EUSS BRC in November even though my current BRC is expiring end of JULY?
many thanks

Yes, you can, if you are not intending to travel after the expiration of your current BRC. You can rely on your digital settlement status to proof your legal status in this country if required.

Yes, you can. I have applied to upgrade my current BRC to a pre-settled status card that was the advice stated in a consent email they sent to me. See copy of my email in the other topic you posted on.

Thanks so much for your reply and the confirmation. Could you also tell what docs do we need to upload or to take to the biometric appointment?
Thanks

You will be advised what documents to upload or take to the biometric centre once you have completed application. It varies for each person. The usual ones are proof of ID category where you submit one piece of evidence (passport, biometric residence card etc), proof of residence (one piece of evidence) and a signed consent letter which you will download after the application. You can scan and upload it yourself if you have the facilities to but even so, I would advise you to take the documents with you to the biometric appointment (if you booked a paid one). I had uploaded my documents ok at home. I booked a paid appointment as there was no free slots so scanning and uploading was included in the fee. I took my documents anyway. On the form, it asked for one piece of evidence for ID so I uploaded my BRC. At the centre, my passport was needed as well which I had on me. The attendant said I uploaded the consent form under the wrong category so it was done again. I couldn't have imagined having to travel back home because I didn't have the documents. Always good to just take them with you.
