Hi everyone,

I found this thread few days ago and the sharing here is very helpful. Thanks a lot everyone for your valuable input. I just applied the EEA2 RC few days ago using the new EEA(EFM) form via the unmarried partner route. I found the new form is much more sophisticated and asks for much for detailed information. Does anyone here has some experience to share too? I hope it is not going to make the application process longer. Here is my timeline:

Sending EEA(EFM) form: 16 Feb 2015
Received by Home office: 17 Feb 2015
Application fee deducted from my bank account: 19 Feb 2015

All I can do now is just waiting. God bless me!

Before 30 Jan 2015, there was only one form to use for Registration Certificate or Residence Card via any route. However, from 30 Jan 2015 onwards, there are two different forms to use, you can see the details from the links below.
- EEA(FM) (details: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... _01-15.pdf) or
- EEA (EFM) (details: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... _01-15.pdf)

Basically for EEA(EFM), the applicant is the unmarried partner, or relatives (Eligible relatives include siblings, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, or cousins) of the EEA national. For the rest of the applicants, they use EEA(FM)

We are new on this board.. First of all we wanted to thank you, we've received our COA (no right to work- unmarried partners) on 12/1/2015, but based on your comments and recommendations we've called and emailed HO and today (16/1/2015) a second COA arrived by post- with a work permit!

Our recommendation to anyone that received his/hers COA with no work permit is to contact HO on 0300 123 2241 and also email them on: nweurocoarequests@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk and ask for another COA!

So far our timeline is as follows:

Application sent- 19/12/2014
Acknowledgement letter - 23/12/2014
COA (no work permit) received- 12/1/2015 (dated 08/1/13)
Email and phone call made on the 13/1/15
COA (with work permit!) received- 16/1/2015 (dated 13/1)

Now waiting for the RC! wish us luck... :)
Hi - I'm in the same situation as you. I'm the unmarried partner of an EEA national. Our timeline is:

Feb 9: Sent application
Feb 10: Application delivered
Feb 11: Confirmation of receipt of application
Feb 12: Money debited from our account
Feb 14: COA Received with NO right to work
- the COA also says "We will not revisit the terms of your COA during the consideration of your case"

The reason that they gave was that i had "not provided original documentation for all of the following: evidence of relationship with your EEA national sponsor"

How did you convince them by phone and email to give you another COA with right to work? What did you say?

I'm currently in full-time permanent employment and so is my fiancee (eea national). I sent them her contract, timesheets, letter from employer (all originals), along with multiple original bank statements, council tax letters, utility bills with joint names on them (also originals). Also sent them both of my employment contracts (originals).

However I also sent in print-outs of utility bills from when were living in New Zealand that were not original as we were paperless with those accounts. We have been living together for 4+ years, and since May 2013 in the UK - so have original documents from May 2013-present, but not from before.

Any and all advice would be much appreciated!

Please help my current Visa expires end of March and we won''t be able to afford to live in London on just my partners salary (she is EEA National).

Thank you in advance!

Hi, we applied using solicitor 4 August 2014, got CoA, but nothing else until now. We are unmarried couple, partner is an overstayer as well and we have a baby together. I hope we'll get it soon.

Hi Sunspot - did your COA give you the right to work?

I have just recieved COA with NO right to work, applying as an unmarried partner. However I have seen people on this forum get COA with right to work when applying in the same circumstances.

Do you have any advice?

 Just been going through the new EEA FM form and all I got to say is "WOW" this is like a one lengthy interview with 129 pages to fill and they are asking too much in deep details about everything, seems like cant just fill it up by self defo need experts advice to fill it. I'd say to all those people whose file is in under process have a look at new form and leave some feedback ...!!!

Hi there!

It is indeed a very similar situation to ours. We got the same 'reason' for the refusal to work although we've sent plenty of original evidence. When we phoned them, the guy said that they automatically don't approve right to work for unmarried partners. He suggested that we send them an email.
On that day we sent an email, explaining our circumstances (we've been living together for 9+ years!) and also highlighting that we're both employed full time and pay a lot of tax money and don't understand their decision.
We received an auto-response to that email, saying that they would not revisit bla bla bla...
So we sent another letter with pictures of us together and holiday receipts from previous years etc..

A few days later we received 2 letters from HO: The first one explained why they can't approve my partners right to work (because we're unmarried bla bla bla), and the second letter was actually the COA - with a right to work!

The two letters were signed by 2 different people, both dated the same day (13/1) - which is the day we sent out both the email and the letter.
Conclusion- the letter didn't affect this. The email / phone call- did!

Give it a try, you've got nothing to loose.

Good luck!

Same situation here. Sent my EEA (EFM) application as unmarried partner on 9th of February, got CoA with no right to work on 21st of February. I'm on my student visa that is not due to expire any time soon, however would like to get my RC asap anyway

Anyway, should I call/email HO regarding CoA? If yes, where do you you call/email and what exactly do you say?

If I request my passport back, do you think it will affect my application in any way possible?

Thank you beautiful people!
