So I finally got my RC this morning -- I didn't expect it coming by a special delivery.

So my wait ends now within 6 months(two days before exactly 6 months).

Feb 12 2010, COA filed as submission
Beginning of March, COA received, showing issued on 25th Feb
Trying to chase in April, July and finally complained to the Northwest unit on 27th July and got replied on 30th July.

Residence card received on 10th Aug. but issued on 15th July.

Very best to all of you. Hope the long waiting ends soon.

EE1/EE2 submitted 19/07/10. Together with the form we also sent a letter to request our passports back because we needed to travel in September.
Received by HO 20/07/10
Passports arrived back 06/08/10
COA arrived 07/08/10, dated 03/08/10
No ref number, only Case ID number in the COA
Did you make your application through Liverpool centre? As I did submitted on 19/07/10 and it got to Liverpool centre 20/07/10 yet no COA don't know what to do as when ever I ring they always tell me to wait for 6 to 8 weeks before expecting my COA.

I sent an EEA2 application together with my wife's EEA1 since on the 14th of July and I haven't received COA or any correspondence up till now. Should I start to follow-up with the HO or I should be a little patient.

Thanks

I sent the forms to Liverpool, but addressed them to "EE1 applications" (and not to EE2). Maybe this could make a difference?

Hi there,

I called the HO this morning and I was told that my application is awaiting allocation to a Case Worker. Meanwhile, they said my COA has been despatched since on monday and I haven't received it yet.
Does anybody know how long it takes a mail to travel from HO, Liverpool to the recipient?

Thanks

Do you mean that your COA took 2 weeks from the time of despatch to arrive at your door step?

Yes! After a week or so I called them and was advised that second class post normally takes 7-10 days... The Home Office lives in its own world of course...

Hi everyone,

I have skimmed through the posts here but couldn't find the answer to my question - apologies if the answer is already somewhere on the thread...

Here's my situation: I am French, working in the UK, hoping to get a residence card for my (American) unmarried partner. We've been living together for more than two years and can prove it, so no worries there.

From what I understand, if we apply for a residence card now, he'll probably get it in six months or so, and he won't be able to work in the meantime. His student visa will also run out in a few months.

I was wondering if it would be possible/would be quicker to apply for this residence card from France, by applying through the British Consulate in Paris? (or through a British Consulate in the US?)

Of course I'm thinking there must be a reason why everyone here has been applying by mail and not doing it in person in their home country... but hey, still worth asking

Hope this is clear enough - looking forward to any/all input!

Hi, I think it's not possible to apply RC outside UK but instead you need to apply for something called European citizen family permit which gives almost the same rights as RC but only valid for 6 months -- so you can enter UK and start to work as well. Once in the UK, you can start to apply EEA2 immediately.

Thank you, that's very helpful! I've looked at the official guidelines, and it sounds like the family permit could be the solution for us. One thing I haven't been able to figure out: do you think we can we still apply from France, even though we're both currently living in the UK? My partner is not technically 'following me' or 'joining me', since he's already here (on a student visa)... not sure if it makes a difference - hope not!

Hi, I did call them to check if they receive my application about 2 weeks later at the same time to check if COA has been sent out. I used special delivery. you have to give them the special delivery number and they can trace if they receive it, without it they said it's difficult but they still can check your name in the system. I think you should call them coz 14/9 is like almost a year now. Have you not even receive your COA? You can call the local number. It's 01516725626. Hope this help. Good Luck.

I don't know the details about applying for family permit -- but I think you can be still inside UK while your partner is applying -- but do prove that you are exercising treaty rights in the UK and your partner is joining you. I don't know if your partner is eligible to apply for this in France but when applying, your partner may have to wait in France for three weeks or so until the visa is issued.

Thanks again - yes, I realise he'd have to spend a few weeks in France, that's not an issue in itself. I'm more concerned about finding out whether or not he is eligible... I haven't had much luck finding more details about this specific question on the internet, so I called up the Embassy this morning to enquire. I got a very frosty reception! The lady told me to look at the HO website and proceeded to hang up on me, lovely.

Hi,

I applied for an EEA Family Permit in France 1 year ago. At that time, my husband, who is French btw, and I were not leaving in France. We already moved to the UK.
So, of course your husband can apply for the FP in France even though he is not leaving there.
It took me 5 business days to get the permit. It was very quick and straightforward.
Your husband will need to apply online then book an appointment with WorldBridge in Paris. You can find out more info here https://www.visainfoservices.com/Pages/Welcome.aspx

Hope that hepls.

got my RC today

Post by simple_shoes » Tue Aug 17, 2010 9:18 am

I am so happy - I've got my passport with RC this morning. Yesterday when I called Home office and they've told me it was sent by special delivery i had included in my application before.

here is the history:
30.03.10 application sent
28.04.10 - COA received
18.06.10, 26.07.10, 4.08.10 - called HO - was told "still in a queue to be assigned to the caseworker"
17.08.10 - passport with RC back, issued on the 5 August for 5 years
total: 4 month and 18 days

good luck for all who are still waiting.

RC

I finally received my RC yesterday.I took exactly six months.only problem is that they never requested for me to return my passport(which I requested to travel in march 2010).So they just put the RC on a piece of paper.I would really prefer my Resident permit to be inside my passport instead of in a separate paper.Any ideas how i can solve this problem?Anyone?
