Sometimes the HO does not ask you to submit the passport again. They just issue the RC on an A4 sheet, so they might not ask you to re-submit your passport and just issue you with an RC.

I requested my passport return at the moment of application as well.
Even though I received the COA, UKBA didn't send me back my passport without request.

This is what I did..
First I sent e-mail which is only for requesting passport back as it was not within 10days of travel.
Nothing happened.
So I called UKBA for my passport return when it gets to 10days of travel.
Then UKBA returned my passport with next day delivery which I enclosed togather with my application.
I made sure that UKBA uses the enclosed envelop when I called up UKBA.

I made application in mid September, but I haven't asked to return my passport to UKBA yet.
So I don't think your application is in process yet.
Also I called them yesterday asking how long it will take for me to get RC.
UKBA answered now they are making decisions for applications made in June and July.

If I were you, I make phone call to UKBA requesting passport return as soon as possible.
hello bombom,
thanks for your advice, it has been much appreciated.

I've just called UKBA and talked to an advisor requesting the passports back with the pre-paid special delivery envelope I've previously enclosed with the application.
How long did you wait after requesting your passports back? they told me it can take up to 10 days but I suppose if they are really going to use my pre-paid special delivery envelope then it'll be a lot quicker.

I requested my passport return on 1st Oct and received on 6th Oct.
There was a weekend, so UKBA sent back the passport in 3 days of working days including the delivery.
While that time, I checked the delivery progress using nexy day delivery tracking number.
By using this, I could know when it was coming.

here is the history:
30.03.10 application sent
28.04.10 - COA received
18.06.10, 26.07.10, 4.08.10 - called HO - was told "still in a queue to be assigned to the caseworker"
17.08.10 - passport with RC back, issued on the 5 August for 5 years
total: 4 month and 18 days

good luck for all who are still waiting.

This is my first post.
I have been viewing other people's status for a long time.
today I surprisedly got my RC.

My record is here:
19 July: next day delivery to apply RC
20 July: HO received.
20 Aug: COA received ( the stamp in the letter showed 12 August)
4 Nov: requested my passport back via phone because of christmas trips
they said they will send it back in 10 working days.
11 Nov (Today) I got all document back with my passport. While I was unhappy that I only request my passport back. I found a RC sticker in my passport. It shows 8Nov 2010 for 5 years.

Process : 3month and 3 weeks

Share this joy to everyone . And wish this can encourage people who are still waiting.

I've received my passport (and my husband's) back today. It took a while because they didn't use the special delivery envelope as per instructions...
but never mind, the most important thing is we got back our freedom of movement.

Speak to you soon

Sent application for EEA2 RC on 24/06/10
Received by UKBA on 25/06/10
Received COA on 16/07/10
Emailed on 26/07/10 to request passports back for travel
Received RC on separate A4 document on 06/11/10 - document dated 29/10/10

I never contacted them by phone or email for any updates on my application. It took just over 4 months so to all those still waiting be patient!

Hi LEo2009.
I didn't expect that I will get my RC so soon. So I actually just called them to ask my passport back for travel. They even send it back by special delivery for me but they did not use my special delivery envelope.

I did not call them until this call. But I tried to label every document for them. And I believe you will get yours soon since I noticed they started to process June and July.

Good Luck

Hello All:

How did everyone prove they could work while waiting for your RC ie: what documentation did you have to show to an employer indicating your legal right to work? Was there any complication? What about taxes, bank account, etc?

I have a job offer, and my wife who is from a WRS country does not, can I still apply straight for the EEA2 (this is what everyone else has said but I want to make sure)

Cheers and good luck to you all!

When you apply and post it out. You will get COA after one month approximately.

The COA is the document in which states you are under the status of RC application. And you can use COA as the proof to show to the employer. But for bank account, maybe you should call the bank to ask. BTW, you should also apply National Insurance(NI) before you can work.

Received EEA2 Residence Card

Post by cnman » Wed Nov 24, 2010 1:01 pm

Hello!! I am so happy as I received my EEA2 residence card.

Here's the process of my application:

20 June: Send applicaiton
1 July: refused due to evidence of medical insurance
8 July : applied again
19 August: Received COA
25 November: Received Residence card dated 19 November

Total of 5months. I have another friend of mine that applied 2 weeks earlier than me. He received his residence card 2 weeks before me. This proof that the Home Office is doing something to get all the application sorted. So don't worry for those that are waiting, you'll get your residence card soon!!

I would like to thanks this forum as I do learned alot about my application and it answers all my questions about my application too.

It sort of calm me down when i am worrying about if they will refuse my application as i read people getting their residence card.

I think i am a little long winded now :D. All the best everyone
