Well done! Did you send it with special delivery pre paid envelope for return of documents? I am still waiting ...

Sorry for the late reply. I am not really sure what my solicitor sent mine with. I used a solicitor so I dont know if he used a return envelope.

Like many others, we went through a tortuous process in submitting the EEA2. That took over 8 months for us! So happy to be able to travel as I can now make it to a family christening in May I was really hoping to attend!

Hi

Congratulations!
Can you please roughly provide us with what you submitted?

I think it helps everyone who is reading this and is going to submit their application too.

Many thanks
Sure! In fact it may be very useful because I work but my spouse (EEA National) does not. So she exercised treaty rights as self-sufficient. I started working immediately in the UK because I simply transferred from our US office to our UK office. She had a good job in her country but never really liked it. I make enough money for both of us and enjoy my job. So she has been pursuing some (not very profitable) artistic and personal goals.

For her:
Comprehensive Private Insurance. We included her plan and renewals for the last 5 years.
Also Bank statements from Bank accounts and Investment accounts she still holds in her name only from before we met.

For me:
Letter from my Employer certifying my employment including start date and salary.
P60's going back 5 years certified by my Payroll department.

For both of us:
Joint Bank Account and Savings account. Selected statements going back 5 years as well as current totals.
Residency documents including tenancy agreements, council taxes, utility bills. From 2-5 documents for each calendar year.

This is interesting. 5 years ago you when you send EEA2 was she Self-sufficent ?

Who is you Health insurance provider and which plan ( many users in this forum asking this question so it may help them )

Quick question for those who submit their EEA3 & 4 applications together:

Where shall I post it to?

Shall I put:

Home Office - EEA Applications EEA3 & EEA4?

Anyone who's done it?

Many thanks in advance!

Yep. The EEA2 application was pretty much the same. She's had a PruHealth plan for over 5 years. They seemed to have changed things around, so the plan we got then doesn't seem to be available now, but basically we just signed up for the most comprehensive (most expensive!) plan they had at the time.

On the EEA2 I didn't include any private cover for myself. For the EEA4 I did include private cover that I got only recently. I am not sure whether it was required but I threw it into the application.

When we got all the documents back, what they seemed to have rifled through the most was the 5 years of bank statements we sent them.

It's funny they didn't pick on your application, but you also needed Comprehensive Sickness Insurance during the whole 5 year period. Both the EEA national and his/her family members need to be covered, if applying as self-sufficient.

I don't believe that is true. I took "and family members" to mean any other family members in the application, such as children. As I am working and giving 40% of my income to the state, I do not understand why I'd need insurance. She's the one exercising treaty rights, not me.

Put another way, she could have applied and gotten an EEA3 PR solely based on her bank accounts (and her 5 years of CSI) with no mention of me. Then I could have applied using EEA4, only mentioning that my EEA spouse already has PR (its just a checkbox in the form). Where in that process would I have needed to show CSI for myself?

National Insurance and income tax can't be taken as "in lieu" payments for health insurance. For her to exercise Treaty Rights as self-sufficient, her and her family members (not just those included on the EEA3 application- but any which the right to live in the UK was dependent of her Treaty Rights exercise, which would include you) would need to be covered by CSI ( https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... 0_0EXT.pdf, page 26).

You do raise an interesting loophole, though. Your wife could theoretically apply for EEA3 independently, as you have mentioned, allowing you to use her EEA3 PR to apply for your EEA4. This would circumvent the need of presenting CSI for yourself, since no document related to Treaty Rights exercise would need to be presented. This is a loophole though, since for EEA2 you would be required to present CSI for both of you, as request on item 9 of the EEA2 form:
Evidence of comprehensive sickness insurance for the EEA national, you and any other
family members included in the application. See section 12 for guidance on what evidence
to submit.

Interesting PR issued outside the rule for sure or may be case worker is new. Only EU student family member don't need CSI

according to UKBA:

The EEA national must have enough money to support themselves and any family members claiming a right to reside through them without needing to claim benefits; and comprehensive sickness insurance cover for themselves and those family members. For as long as these conditions are met, the EEA national and their family members will have a right to reside under regulation 14 of the EEA Regulations (and would acquire the right of permanent residence after five years’ continuous residence in compliance with the Regulations).

Thanks for sharing. It seems the turnover is much quicker these days. I bit worried they haven't sent you a COA, but then again, have concluded your process in 32 days, which is great.

Would you believe it? - I got my documents back, and PR.

Yupeeee

To conclude my application timeline:

Docs and EEA4 sent on 11 Feb, on 12 Feb they took the money
COA issued on 14 April
PR issued on 13 May (although received on 22 May with my special delivery, not sure what they've been doing with it :) )

I do have a question though, which I'm leaving in this thread because it could be of interest to other waiting for PR.

HO put my PR in the passport, and I would prefer it to be on a separate piece of paper (reasons being - my passport is my only ID and I would not like my PR lost in the post somewhere..). Also, my passport expires the next year..
Can I ask the home office to issue a PR on a piece of paper or.. am I stuck with what I have?

You're stuck with it unless you want to apply again. Just carry both passports - they're not that heavy!

It's easier to get a new passport than to get a new PR :) Just apply for a new passport and keep the old one just for the PR...

ok, just posted mine.

Here is my story so far:

July/2008 Married in the UK (both been here since 2005 as students and therefore on a student visa)
Nov/2008 send EEA2 application
May/2009 EEA2 Issued
June/2009 Hubby (EEA National) started working

So I am a little bit confused if I should apply for EEA4 five years from May 2009 (EEA2 issued date) or June 2009 (Hubby started working), as we don't have the CSI thinggy (never heard such a thing at the time!) so I would like to apply on the basis that my husband has been working here for 5 years.

I've been preparing the application for over a week now (such a hassle to get documents to cover five years of two persons' lives!! Especially when you are working full time and have a 2 years old child running around at home!). Just got an email from my HR asking me about my "Right to Work Expiry", so I dashed off to the post office and sent it...without checking it for another 100 times...

I sent it as a joint application of EEA3&4, in which I included:

(1) Covering letter, outlining our activities in the past five years referencing to the list of documents included.

(2) EEA3&4 application forms, with photos stabled, and our passports.

(3) Prove of relationship: Marriage certificate, I also included the Birth Certificate of our son as extra support of evidence (DS is not included in the application)

(3) Evidence of hubby exercising treaty rights: Letter from Employer, P60 for 5 years, Payslips for the most recent 3 months, a selection of his bank statements which his salary goes in over the past 5 years.

(4) Evidence of joint residency in the UK for 5 years: tenancy agreements, utility bills, council tax, letter from solicitor confirming purchase of property with both of our names, and a selection of our joint bank statements over the past 5 years

(5) Additionally I provided evidence of me working in the UK for the past 4.5 years: letter from Employer, P60 for 5 years, Payslips for the past 3 months, a selection of my bank statements which my salary goes in.

Ah I also included two pre-paid special delivery in the application, one with my name the other one with hubby's name - in case they want to send our passports back separately!

Now fingers crossed that they send me the COA thinggy asap to keep my HR happy!

Here the wait starts again...deja vu...

1. My hubby wants British Passport so we decided to apply both, as the documents are almost exactly the same.

2. No, no need for the non-EEA national to send his/her work papers. However I sent it because of two reasons (a) For the EEA2 application there were "rumours" that showing evidence that the non-EEA national also works helps the processing time for the application, as it demonstrates that it is less likely the non-EEA national would be claiming benefits. (b) In my case my job requires travelling quite often, so I added my work paper as additional evidence to push them a bit.

Good luck with your application!

Hi Everyone :)

My Mom is married to an EEA person and we go our residence permit in 2008. We were now due to apply for permanent residence, so we applied through a solicitor.

19/05/2014 - Application sent
27/05/2014 - Acknowledgement letter received (Dated 21/05/2014)

I am a bit confused by the fact that, Me and my mom applied using the same application form, She as the Main Applicant and me as a family member, as they give you the option to do so and I am her daughter. BUT, The Letter of acknowledgement received but the home office only says:

"Our Ref number: xxxx
Your reference number: Blank
Regarding Applicant: XXXXX ( My mom's name ONLY)

Thank you for the application by the above-named on form EEA4. it will now be passed to a casework unit to await consideration.
... "

My Name is not on that letter, is it normal?? I asked my solicitor and she advised me to wait for the COA Letter and that they should send two COA letters in both my mom's name and mine.

I hope there is nothing wrong with the application, as I am feeling really positive and counting on this.

Any suggestions about it???

Many Thanks

My Mom is married to an EEA person and we go our residence permit in 2008. We were now due to apply for permanent residence, so we applied through a solicitor.

Your mother is a main applicant, that's why your name is not on this letter.
This is normal and nothing to worry.
