Hi Sheikh,

Yes, it is my first card.
Depending on applicant, they will either ask for a biometrics or requesting to send your passport to them.

Here is my updated status.
Applied and biometrics done on :30 Mar
CoA received on : 5 Apr (5 working days after biometrics)
Pre-settled status approval received on : 8 Apr (+1 working day after CoA)
BRC awaited (letter states this will turn up in 7 days)

The system seems to work efficiently so far for straightforward cases where no documents have to be posted. Still need to see if BRCs are issued efficiently.

Hi Sheik

Did the status on your application change at all or does it still say you need to send in your passport. Mine still has that message even though they received the passport on the 2nd of April. Now I am panicking a little as I have had no response at all. :(

I also sent on 01/04 and last called on Friday to ask if I needed to submit biometrics and if they had received my passport as the application still said I need to send it. They said they couldn't see anything on their system yet meaning it was yet to be picked up by a case worker and that I shouldn't worry. Guess we just have to wait and see.

Did you have to send you passport ? and when you went to bio-metric appointment did you have to carry any other document except passport.

In my case, no I didn't send my passport, after I submitted my online application, the only thing I have been asked to do is to book appointment for collection biometric evidence.
When I went to my appointment, the only thing they've asked to see were my passport and the booking confirmation letter. (I did take extra documents in case they want but nothing was required at the end)

I hope this helps. Thank you.

Did you get settled status on the basis of 5 years on residence card or 5 years of marriage ?

I am not too sure to be honest. Here is my background,
Time stayed in the UK: 11 years
RC granted (unmarried partnership): 29.03.2014
Married to EU citizen: April 2018

I think it's based on my stay in the UK? I have phoned them in the past for documents I need to submit, the staff suggested marriage certificate, and national insurance card to prove the years I stayed here.
(I did uploaded my expired RC just in case however.)
(btw just realise I applied settled status on the 30th not 29th as I don't have BRP card!)

Thanks.

You case was easy and straightforward then and easy to decide for case worker. 5 years on residence card as eea family member + continuous residence.

I have also applied but on RC its 4 years 11 months + 9 years continuous residence in UK. I am hoping they will grant settled status on continuous residence and not just pre settled because I could not complete 5 years in total on residence card.

Thanks for the clarity.

The staff in the phone told me if when you entered your NI number and your information has been pulled through from the system successfully, they would know you have been in this country for more than 5 years; only if for some reason they couldn't read your data from your NI number, then you have to provide more evidence to prove your residency.
He didn't even ask about my RC actually, I brought it up myself.

Also, when you applied online, at one point you can see what you will be granted?
I hope all go well with you in any way!

Thank you so much for your assurance.
Did you upload copy of your residence card or if caseworker requested to send it to them.

What document did you actually provide or uploaded online ?

Just sharing my own experience if that helps, I was quite anxious and confused before and during the process as well so I can understand :)

I uploaded scan of my marriage certificate and my expired RC (sticker on the passport) online. (To be honest I uploaded RC just to be safe)
There is a section you need to provide you NI number.
No documents were required to post/sent to them.

Thanks!

Hello, you mentioned you did not have a FP sticker on your passport. Did you enter as Visitor?
I am recently married, under Visitor Visa in the UK - and I was wondering if I could skip the FP and request a BRC or a pre-settle.
(I am non-eu, EEA FM spouse**)

Thank you!

Hi alespedro

I’ve arrived on January 2019 to the UK with declaring my situation, not as a tourist. I’m non EU and my husband is EU & living & working in the UK for 5 years.

We arrived together from Paris and I had no Family Permit or whatsoever. I entered as a Family member of an EEA citizen. They stamped my passport on arrival and I entered as settling purposes i.e. not visitor. (stamps says “admitted to the united kingdom under the immigration (EEA) regulations 2016”)

I’ve never applied to FP or BRC before, yet only applied to EU Settlement Scheme right after my husband. I got my COA & Pre-Settled Status within a week of application / Bio-enrolments. Now I’m waiting for BRC card. (I’m entitled to work as well and already working)

I believe if you can prove your residency in the UK i.e. bank statement, council tax or bills etc., you can by-pass FP or EEA Family Residence card applications and only apply to EU settlement scheme. Of course this is only what I’ve experienced with my current conditions you may prefer to get additional info from other sources.

Cheers

Oh. Same with my husband (EU national), he still did not receive anything yet, we will try to call them later as well. We posted his national identity card same day as ours. It is already 9 working days today if we count from the day they received it.

On my case, I received email Monday 8th of April both CoA and status.
