Sorry if this is a dumb question. But does anyone know what you physically get once you're granted pre-settled status. I"m EEA and my wife is non-EEA; she has a biometric appointment in two weeks' time. But if she gets pre-settled status, do they send her a residence card? We just want to know for travelling in and out of the UK. What will she be able to use at immigration control to show she has pre-settled status? Thanks in advance, if anyone knows.

If she already had a BRC means plastic biometric not sticker then she will get status by email only and the same card she will use.

But if previously she was granted 5 years with sticker then this time she will get a BRC (card with chip).
{ I'm not a solicitor, legal professional or immigration advisor, all of my posts are based on my online search and my own PR, ILR (LR), 2 FTT and 2 UTT refused but finally after 3 years of long battle I got my SETTLED STATUS. }

Very anxious...

Appiction sent 9 july
Bio metric 12 July
No coa. Until 23 July 10.40am
French wife got settle stattus on 01.07.19

I have put her application reference number. Sent my English marriage certificate since 17.06.2013.
Sent her passport scan copy..

Worried, because my wife going France on 5 August to 30 August, .. do they ask for orginal passport for spouse...

Hello,

My permit was valid until March 2020 too but I've got my BRC yesterday. all I would suggest is that you call them and ask why it's taking so long to conclude on your Application.

The EU Resolution Centre staffs are very friendly and easy to communicate with.

We got an email that the card will be received within 7 days.

Does he card holder have to sign the card personally? Or can her sponsor (and at the same time family member) do it? Maybe if she signs an authorizing letter in advance?

What happens if she misses the delivery because she has to travel for a week?
Hello,

I missed my delivery yesterday due to no one been at home and re-arranged delivery using the DX website.

The BRC came this morning as I changed delivery location to my work instead of residential address.

Hope this helps :)

Hi I have got settled status and my 2 sons age 18 and 20 years old non EU came in UK just 2 years before and they got settled status also. My question can I apply their British Nationality after 1 year as mentioned in letter they can apply after 1 year of they got ILR. Some people told me I can't because they need to live 5 years in UK then they can apply for nationality. I'm confused please advise me. Thanks

I am just tagging my question to this thread as I have read at least 50% of this thread and couldn't really find examples.
I am currently on a Tier 2 visa and have been in the UK for 9 years (study + work). I am in a relationship with a EU national, we stayed together in the same flat for 3 years and have recently moved into our own apartment (joint owned by us).

I want to apply for settled status via the unmarried partner of EU citizen route. My girlfriend already has pre-settled status. I have already submitted my application but I should have thought this through a little better.

I have provided the Home Office with the following information in my application:
  • HMRC tax returns showing same address for both of us for 3 years
  • Title Deed of house in both our names
  • Council tax statements in both our names for 3 years
  • Bank statements in both our names for both of us for 3 years
They got back asking for a marriage certificate. I did not realise that I would have to do provide one as there was no where I could enter the conditions I wanted to apply under.
Is a residence card compulsory for applying under the unmarried partner route? Should I have applied for this soon-to-be redundant card first (i.e. if settled status approved the card is superseded right)?

Lastly, do people include photographs typically in their applications of the couple together during the 5 years (this appears typical of the Residence Card process). Also, if this is the case, when does my 5 years of settled status starts counting? From time we started being unmarried partners or from date we moved in together or from time of pre-settled status issuance?

Is a residence card compulsory for applying under the unmarried partner route?

Yes for direct family member ( Married Couple ) it's from Marriage Date
for Extended family member like unmarried partner it's from RESIDENCE CARD ISSUED DATE . if you don't have RC issued EU law then you can not apply Settled Status

You should apply 10 years long residence when your 10 years is complete under UK LAW

You can only count after RC issued date because you are unmarried. So you can apply settled status 5 years after PRE SETTLED RC issued date
UK Student Visa : 04/2004 - 09/2009
EEA Residence Card : 07/2010 - 7/2015
EU Settled Status: Confirmed on 16th July 2019
Naturalisation : Confirmed on 02nd Oct 2020
Passport Approval : 21st Feb 2021

Thank you for your reply @Hrak1978. Do I’ve to link my application to my ex wife? How long will it take roughly. Anyone you know who applied?
Many thanks

If you know her 16 DIGIT APPLICATION NUMBER then u should link it.

It depends how long will it take. A friend of mine who applied having same situation like you got his status in 19 days.

I think it depends on the case worker. The case worker who phoned my friend he was very very very helpful. Thats what my friend said.

So make a covering letter explained him your immigration history with exact dates and apply. By the Grace of God you will get it.

@askmeplz82 motivated me alot and some other fellow members.

So just go ahead. Good luck

Hi Everyone, I am new here and I have some concerns about obtaining a residence permit (pre-settled status).

Just last week I obtained my EU Settlement scheme family permit to join my wife who is already in the uk. She is living with a family member and I do plan to join her there till we are able to find our own accommodation after I get a job. So my questions are below

1. Do I need proof of address to get pre-settled status? I won't have any because I have not paid any bills to have one neither do we have rent contract/agreement in our name

2. Am I to register for National Insurance before applying for pre-settled status?

Will be glad to have some answers to my questions.

Thanks

Still without a decision. Have been in touch with my MP who made an enquiry regarding my case and was told that an IT issue is the cause of the delay. It has been over two weeks since I received this news and still no resolution. Every time I call, I am told that the case is being escalated to the IT department. This is getting to be unnerving.

Has anyone else had their case held up by an IT issue or is it just me?

I am a non-EEA spouse of an Italian. He applied for and received settled status within 2 weeks of his application. I do not have anresidence permit or BRC as I've entered the UK with the EEA treaty stamp at the airport. I've been living with my husband in the UK since August 2018 and applied for pre-settled status.

Submitted my application: May 24th
Biometrics: May 29
COA: May 30
Decision: Still waiting

I sent an email to enquire about the progress of the application around June 3rd. They responded within 2 days that my biometrics have been received and verified & that my case was being considered. I called resolution centre yesterday (June 27) but pretty much got the same answer that was in my email. Hoping for a decision soon.

Biometrics submitted on 26/07
I received the COA on 29/07 in the morning
I received a decision 29/07 in the afternoon
Biometric residence card to be submitted within 7 working days

It all seemed fairly easy...was expecting a much longer wait. All the staff from the resolution centre and the biometrics were brilliant, informative (which you don't always get from the HO) and friendly

Good luck to all those still waiting

HI All

Updating on my timeline:

Applied on 31st March
Biometric done on 1st April
CoA received on 5th April
Decision for Settled Status on 29th July

It took them 4 months and 1 week in total. I have contacted my MP twice but unsuccessfully, but when I decided to book an appointment to see her I received a response from her caseworker advising that in my case I do not need any appointments and my MP will contact HO directly regarding my case. I do not know if she did it or not but I am not really happy with the response from my MP. Last week I called a Resolution Centre and asked to log a complain. After speaking to the manager I was advised that all information will be passed on to the caseworker and escalated (again). And here we are: today I have received a settled status as Non-EU. By the way, my son who is EU also received his settled status today with exactly the same timeline as mine.

Good luck to everyone. I would not advise you to be patient as the waiting is just killing especially when you are provided with the difference piece of information every time.

Hi.
Please just a quick question. What document did you submit for EU settlement family permit? I'm planning to bring my daughter in. Thanks

Hi,

Your statement and question contradicts. You just obtained EU settlement I’m guessing through partner/spousal route but currently don’t reside in the uk yet? If you already have settled why do you need to apply for pre settled?

You can open a broadband or any bill and cancel under 14days. You still get you pay for a certain fee but varies on the company. But by then you have a bill or proof of address to make an NI application or presettled. Even with some NI applications they send you a letter when you first apply which you can then actively use provisionally for job search pending its arrival.

Hope that helps
