How to or If I can request the passport for my sponsor

Hi everyone, I had a very quick question in regards to requesting the passport of my partner because he would be travelling soon to Germany.

I'm not really sure if it will have any adverse impact on my application or anything. I won't be requesting my passport along with him , I also would like to say that my valid leave expired in September and since then my application has been processing. Does that mean I cannot request my passport or even my partner cannot request it?

Any response to my this query would be very helpful.
