tigerram wrote:This was on the BBC website this evening, it appears an hour or so ago, regarding a release of documents today:
The documents issued by the European Council on Tuesday briefly restate the broad areas of negotiation set out last week, including proposed limits on the payments of migrants' benefits, new powers for national parliaments and safeguards for countries outside the eurozone.

They also state that if EU leaders endorse the agreement, the new arrangements would become effective on the date the UK government informed the Council it was staying in the EU, were that to be the outcome of the referendum.
So basically, nothing will change before 23rd June.
Cheers for that tigerram! If I count out my 6 months, I should have my RN back by the end of May. Like I said before, it will be cutting it close - but I would rather cut it close than not at all!

Of course that will all depend on them reaching an agreement at next weeks summit. I'm assuming that no agreement = no June referendum (fingers crossed)!

Thanks to common sense amongst Manila cfo staff, my wife is currently halfway here on a plane.

We are delighted. Technically they could have made us wait two to three months. But we explained the european law was changing so they moved to issue the CFO sticker and cert just using our courier receipt showing we are sending the documents to hk to be lodged for our marriage. This is a huge concession and noone asked for any extra money.

Thanks to one and all who have helped. I hope all your dreams come true too!

My renunciation arrived today 13th it was dated the 8th.

I posted my application on 15/09/15 it arrived back 13/02/16 so just short of 5 months.

That's the first hurdle cleared now for the next one :)

Brilliant Bannoi! The time frame for getting them back seems to be complete pot luck - I am glad that you didn't have to wait the entire 6 months. Keep us updated with the EEA permit stage please and good luck with it!!!

Hi all!

Well, our news, we got our EEA family permit in 4 working days! we were shocked... haha.. but very happy!

So we are flying to the UK in March 2016,.

All scary now that it's finally happening, but happy we are able to go over before any "changes" take place.

Happy to hear everyones good news.

FYI - We sent in a bunch of photos (we've been together 5yrs, married 2 and with a daughter) so we sent photos from the "beginning" when we looked different to now etc. We sent our marriage certificate, they took a copy of my daughters passport and my passport and that was pretty much it. We had a letter from a friend we are staying with and a letter from our family that is helping us financially.

I don't know if its more difficult in certain countries, or some are more strict. But either way! extremely happy! Now to find a place to rent that allows pets! haha

Just to let everyone know, I received my RN in 4.5 months and my wife got her EEA last week in only 7 days. She'll be here by the end of the month. Waiting for the RN is the worst, I really feel your pain, but stick with it and make sure you have all your other documents ready and good to go so that once you get your RN, you can apply for your EEA immediately; good luck !!!!!!!

Fantastic White Emerald! That's now 4 good stories in as many days! I am thinking of doing what you said - that is having everything ready so that when the RN is back, I can apply for the family permit right away.

On a side note, I sent you a private message with a quick question if that is OK!

Best of luck getting the wife to join you!

Hi white Emerald, When did you send your RN off and when did you recieve it back. I am waiting on my irish passport card at the mo then will send off my RN. Someone i know who completed this last year advised me to contact a local MP who can call to check the progress of the RN request. I have spoken to a local MP who said she will do this after I have submitted. Just wondering if anyone else has done this and did it make a difference to their timescale? I was sooo hoping to have my RN back by june but its looking more and more unlikely :-(

Hi RJF1979, when are you getting married? I spoke to my solicitor yesterday as I was feeling concerned about proposals and the referendum, his reply to me was "Draft proposals are aimed at British nationals doing surinder singh, you are going to be an Irish national so it would not impact you, I would think you still have time but don't delay at all from here on in. Even a vote to leave the EU would require parliamentary approval pf precise exit arrangements."

This comforted me a bit so hopefully it will you. What stage of the process are you at are you waiting on your RN?

Hey magicmus,

I never even thought about asking a local MP to check! At least it is better than me calling. At least one positive is that a few people here have gotten their RN forms back after 4.5 months. I was the same as you - I sent my RN off as soon as my Irish Passport card came!

I know they are focusing mostly on Surinder Singh - but I was worried that one of the little pieces of sub text - something about a country's own immigration laws applying - would apply to people like us. Don't quote me on that, as I am not a solicitor, but that was the part that got me worrying.

RJF1979 and I are more or less at the same point if I am correct. I think he is at the 3 month stage of waiting .. and I am coming up on my 3 months.

May I also ask where you are applying from magicmus? England? Northern Ireland? Overseas?

I'm applying from northern Ireland so the sdlp office are going to call for me being a nationalist party they are keen to have people renouncing British citizenship.
When it's constantly being talked about on the news it is worrying.

Haha funny you should say that - I was going to write in my last post that being from Belfast - I'm sure my local Sinn Fein or SDLP office would happily make some enquiries! I had never actually thought about getting them involved and I'm unsure if it would make the process go any faster.

A BBC article tonight said that even if there is a deal at tomorrow/Fridays summit - and if Cameron calls a meeting with Parliament on Friday evening then - Mr Cameron may then announce the date of the UK's referendum, although he does not have to do so

Lovely of them to throw in the - he does not have to. Either way I suppose we will know in the next few days!

Yeh I'm unsure it would make it any faster either but worth the try. If they are on there case every week they may just decide to process it to stop the call, wishful thinking on my part I think
Wish my Irish passport card would hurry up I applied on the app last Tuesday so hoping it won't be much longer. I would love to be able to apply for eea permit in June when I go over to see my husband but I think its more likely to be September before we can apply.

When you applied for the Irish Passport card - I thought there was a way to track it? Well more check on the progress of it, through the website. That might be worth looking into. Could have sworn that mine only took a week to get to me here in the USA.

Yea I know what you mean about wanting to apply as soon as you can :( Where is your husband from if you don't mind me asking? I hope your passport card comes soon as you can get the ball rolling with things. All my fingers and toes are crossed for the referendum being pushed until later this year!

Hope & pray you get your Irish passport back really soon.. When did you send off your Irish passport card magicus?

Hey Magicmus,

You might want to see if there is a phone number or something that you can call as well, especially if the tracking # isn't giving you much information. Can't hurt to phone and ask! I had a quick look on the website and couldn't see a phone number - there is a "contact us" section at the top right. It allows you to send a message to the Dublin passport office via email.

I was really surprised with how quickly mine came and RJF1979's only took 4 days - so I would like to think that you would have heard something by now! I hope you get it soon!
