I have been reading with interest the argument about traveling to the UK with or without a EEA family permit. Let me share my personal experience with everybody and i hope it helps people on this forum.

I am a non-EU national married to a British Citizen and we have two children(British). We got married in 2013 in Lagos Nigeria, but my Family lives in the United Kingdom. In June this year my wife exercised her treaty rights in Malta on the self sufficient route, I also applied for my residence card, everybody's residence card came out minus mine due to the fact that I am non-EU.In November this year to be there was urgent need to travel to the United Kingdom and there was even no time to apply for a family permit, so we set off from Malta, i bought a ticket on British airways going to Paris Via London gatwick for myself only, my family was on the same flight as well but they had tickets going to london as i have my schengen Visa,to cut a long story short we got to the border post and sought entry under eea regulations 2016. documents i presented are listed below. The border official only took away my residence application receipt and went inside. after like 20 minutes he came back with my passport stamped in and said next time i should try and get a visa. I told him they are taking forever processing EEA family permits so i didn't bother to apply, he said fair enough. That was it. I believe the fact that we have children helped immensely and also the marriage is four years +. I must also say before i embarked on this trip i sought advice on this from the senior members/moderators of this Forum all of them them ignored(which i believe was wrong) and didn't reply only a normal member encouraged me at observer_haters, i went with my personal conviction and i also sought legal advice from two senior immigration lawyers and i got the green light from them. Above all i give glory to the almighty God. i was only in the UK for a few days and i went back to Malta. I hope my experience helps everybody as personally i have learnt a lot on this Forum.

1.Wife and Children's Maltese Residence Cards
2. My Maltese residence application receipt
3. Lease agreement that has both our names on it.
4. Marriage Certificate
5. Comprehensive insurance Certificate for the whole family
6. Children’s birth certificates.
7.gym letter
8.letter from GP.
9. letter from Solicitor in Malta reminding them of the right of admission
10. Letter from Solicitor in England reminding them of the right of admission
Thanks for sharing, your info will definitely help many here. It seems that there is something Merzit is not telling us here concerning her own experience.

Hello,

It was a gruelling wait for 110 working days and close to 5 months since I applied for my EEA FP to join my husband in London, and finally I’m glad to inform you all that I got my visa to travel to the UK.

I must say the information and suggestions posted in this forum helped me immensely to expedite our process. We kept escalating after every 15 or 20 day period, wrote to our MP, solvit after crossing 90 working days. Our MP had also sent us a letter explaining the situation and assured that he will be working on our case. Lo and behold, guess it worked for us. So please hang in there, your visa might be on it way.

Application submission: 3rd July from chennai, India
Not starlight forward email: 15th nov
No of escalations: 3
Got a confirmation mail: 4th dec
Received my passport with FP: 6th dec
Congratulations,
Finally someone from the month of July has been granted their visa.
I also applied in July but still waiting 99days today.
Once again congratulations have a great time with your family
Hi Olajide1,
Any news from Abuja, have you received your decision yet?
Hello bro,
No news yet. I'm now officially an E-hubby!
I've been spending more time on video call with wifey now. All thanks to the home office.
Kindly update if you have any news
Cheers
Merry Xmas in advance

lET ME MAKE THIS CLEAR, yes you can travel to uk without an eea family permit if you are and EU family member in possession of a residence card issued under article 10. All you need to do is to travel with your EU/EEA spouse, with your marriage certificate and all documents that proves that your relationship is genuine, you can also choose to take some of your pictures (your pic with your spouse together) and thats all. this can only work if you are travelling together with your spouse.

If your spouse is already in uk, and you happen to make your way to the boarder, pls make sure you have above documents with you, including your EU's spouse prove of employment, they will surely let you in, its much better that your spouse is contactable also via telephone incase immigration officer wants to call him/her on phone.

This info is also on Home Office website.

Hope this would help many of you who want to travel by road to the uk boarder or those who have the above mentioned residence card in another EU member state.
thats all !!

Please don’t make confusion about this. I am Spanish and my husband is here in Spain with spanish residence. He try travel WITH ME to London and police on airport denied to enter because my husband NOT HAS A VISA. So, that information is irrelevant, he can try enter but sure 99% possibilities to not enter in England.
hi
can you please explain your experience waht exatly happen to you what they said to you when did you fly last time?
Hi! Yes sure, I’ll share mi experience here:

My husband is Albanian and I am Spanish. He married with me in October 2016 in Spain, so my husband has the residence spanish for 5 years. Im 23 years old then Im not have work in Spain or my own house because im still studying. My parents consented that they take care of me and my husband at home while waiting for a Visa basically.
I contracted lawyer english for help about documents to send, about information etc.. he said everything its ok, my husband never been criminal or anything, he is clean.
Then around 100 persons told me (including embassy english) my husband isn’t allowed to enter in England just with residence because probably the police stop you. We try and the police in airport told us, before speaking about brexit not problem for enter, but right now 2017 no one chance to enter if you don’t get the Visa. That’s all.
hi merzit,
can you please tell me where they stop you here in spain or in london heathrow airport and what documents did you showed them can you explain me please so i can make my plan

In Gatwick Airport they stop my husband not leaving enter... we had to buy another fly back... we took every pictures, certificate, all documents basically and they said not to my husband because he need a Visa from this year 2017 definitely. Before maybe they leave you pass but actually no way. It doesn’t matter how many years married, residence or anything, they just look if my husband got the Visa or not.
Do not be afraid to take a big step , a precipice hopping is not passed.
