EEA family permit as Extended family member.

Biometric 30 Jan,2020
Receipt Acknowledgment 31 Jan,2020
Not Straightforward 11 feb,2020
Had a call from DDC DNA center from London
that UKVI contact them to ask about our DNA test report submitted if is genuine :13 Feb ,2020.

Still waiting for decision.

This is my 2nd application.
My first application was refused because:

1. I failed to submit evidence of my circumstance
that show that without financial assistance from my
sister I can’t survive.

2. Money transfer dated from 2016 -2018 was not in
my name and I failed to show evidence of relationship to
the people received the money on my behalf. Showing am not the intended beneficiary.

After review of the refusal docs I enclosed in my second application.

1.Circumstances that shows I can’t survive without my sister’s financial assistance
; Dad Death certificate,Stepdad Death certificate.
Mom mentally challenged .Live with Aunty whose old age 84 years attached her ID cards and birth certificate.

2. Money transfer from Jan 2016 -2018 dated my cousin and aunty I enclosed their ID card and birth certificate to confirm we are biologically related.
All these happened because I was under age.
But have money transfer from Jan 2019 -Jan 2020 in my name.

Hey guys I am currently in India. Possessing direct fm EEA permit valid till end of July 2020. But due to this pandemic, third lockdown is implemented in India till mid May 2020 and there is no surety that after lifting of lockdown the international travel will immediately start. I am afraid I am going to waste my current Visa. I wanted to travel to UK to join my spouse, but now it seems very difficult.

Since in response to my previous query , I had got reply that we need to consider at least 2 months period to convert EEa permit Visa to pre settled status.

But suppose I am not able to travel , will it be possible to reapply Visa say in start of July or June (my permit will still be valid then) ??? or will I have to wait till this permit expires (end of July 2020)to apply for new one??? Could anyone answer this query for me????

Or if I can travel (Incase the airlines start) considering only few days are left for current permit to expire... should I just take the chance and travel?? What is the best way ??

It is going to be really tough situation Incase I have to reapply for it. I have already left my job and this situation is just wasting my time and my Visa too. Such a bad luck.

Anyone who can suggest me best option for my situation??

Hello neto,

I think it depends on what country you applied from. I am from Nigeria and visa centers just opened this week here. Even so, they are yet to begin accepting new applications and only open to those who wish to collect their passports.

I’d recommend you check your country’s TlS Contact website for details about reopening.

Warm regards.

Hi all,

Please i need some input from the gurus here. My mum is about to apply for the EU settlement scheme family permit from Nigeria (I am non-eu national married to an EU citizen) and my wife will be the sponsor. From what I have read here, I am not sure if we need to provide DNA result to prove relationship between me and my mother? I do have a birth certificate re-issued about 10 years ago, is this enough?

Secondly, as dependency is assumed, does my mum need to provide her bank statement and me providing proof of dependency? I honestly do not have proof as she's not fully dependent but i would love for her to get the visa through EUSS FP as she has been refused visitors visa in the past.

Many thanks

Hello again.

Can anyone tell me if there is a possibility to apply for EUSS family permit for my sister. My husband is EU national and I am Indian citizen currently residing in UK.

In this case my husband will be sponsor and he will be applying for his sister in law. What all documents do we have to arrange ?

Please help if anyone has applied such a way.

An alternative to applying as an Extended family member is to apply under the 'EU Settlement Scheme Family Permit'.

Your Mother-in-Law (aswell as your Father-in-Law) qualifies as 'close' family member of your Husband/Wife/Partner etc and in this category dependence is assumed so you don't really even need to send Money Transfer Receipts (but if you have them then you should send them anyway).

I believe your partner must have atleast 'Pre-settled' status.

In terms of your Sister-in-Law, I'm not sure whether she would be able to apply but I think she could as she is part of your Mother-in-Law household and us under her care.

This would definitely be a better route.

Sorry. I have not fully explained. I have already applied for my mother in law and she was granted the permit in December. We applied for both of them at the same time however mother in law was granted and sister in law was rejected. We had attached the exact same evidence. The refusal reason did not mention anything about only sending 6 months money slips so we assumed they were okay with it. They stated they wanted more evidence of income expenditure and financial situation. And that the money we send is used to meet her essential life needs.
So we sent the exact same evidence but this time included bills and explained their monthly budget/ expenses in detail.
Then this rejection they said 7 months is not enough and asked for collection receipts.

We send money in the name of my mother in law and they have accepted that saying “It is noted that the corresponding money collection receipts or a bank statement in your Mother’s name have not been submitted to verify any of these funds were received by your Mother”

I have emailed the EU settlement resolution team asking if dependent sister in law of 13 years old can apply for the EU Settlement Scheme family permit.

Can I ask u pls I'm non eu national married to eu national I will like to apply for my both parents and my little brother his 5 years for eu settlement family permit what do u think
I'm worried coz of my brother they may refuse them all
I'm thinking to do one buy one
Ur advice pls thank u
Hello tiktok,

Yes your wife can sponsor both your parents under EU settlement scheme family permit as long as you can prove your relationship and she has pre settled or settled status. It’s very easy and although dependency is assumed, it’s also good if you can send evidence that they depend on you.

I think your problem will be when your parents are granted the permit but your brother might be refused even though he is 5 years old.
They accepted my mother in law but rejected my sister in law and now we have even bigger issue because she can’t live by herself and my mother in laws permit will expire June. She still has not come to the UK.

So think wisely before applying. There is no way to link all their applications, you have to do a seperate one for each. Since the EU Settlement Scheme fp is easier there is a big chance they will accept both your parents but you have to apply for EEA fp for your brother since he is extended family and there is a chance he might be rejected then he will be by himself.

Any news on your sister in laws application?

Those fall under the eea family permit I think & I am yet to get a response for when your successful application was made so I can use your timeline to console myself. I’ve applied for the euss family permit since Feb 3 & did my biometric on Feb 14. Received a not straight forward mail & asked to send extra documents since March but I haven’t heard back from Liverpool yet.

Hey guys,

So I decided to use the paid email service to escalate my application on 3/8/20 as it is already past 120WD. I just received an email today from Liverpool saying that “ due to the worldwide impacts of COVID-19 and recent VAC & DMC closures “ my application may experience delays.

VACs in my country are already opened and accepting new applications & I don’t know how long I still need to wait to get a decision. This is so frustrating. Has anyone within the same Timeline as me received any news about their application? I’ve applied since February 3 & did biometric Feb 14.

Dear All-

I really appreciate the work and information you guys are sharing, I learnt so much within some hours of reading. Kudos...

My query might just be very simple.

I want my mother-in law (who lives in Pakistan) to apply for a EU Settlement visa and live with us in UK. I am a german national with settled status and wife pre-settled.

My mother in law has had couple of visit visas to the Uk and he has been to the UK frequently (atleast once in a year).

Is it possible for her to apply while on a visit visa in the UK? She has not been financially dependent on us but she got divorced recently.

Any advise, appreciated!
