Hello,

My sister in law applied for the third time for an EEA family permit extended family member on 03/03/2020 and we had chased up several times since to ask about progress and we were told every time that a decision is still pending on her application.

So on the 19/08/2020 I made an official complaint as it was close to six months and we hadn’t heard anything yet.

Strangely enough, on the same day as I received a reply back from the complaints office, my sister in law received an email informing her the documents were ready for collection at the VAC.

She went twice (yesterday and today) and both times was told her documents haven’t arrived yet, despite showing them the email she had received from TLScontact.

This is the reply I received from the complaints office:

“ 17 September 2020

Dear Ms AA

Thank you for your email correspondence of 19 August where you have raised a complaint on behalf of your sister-in-law, Ms. BB, concerning her EEA Family Permit visa application.

I am unable to uphold your complaint.

Our records confirm that Ms. BB’s application was previously issued on 16 March 2020 and an Entry Clearance Manager (ECM) completed their assessment of it on 23 March 2020.

It may be helpful if I explain that the Visa Application Centre (VAC) then closed due to the COVID-10 lockdown measures. As a result, we were unable to manifest the decision from the UK overseas, as per standard procedures.

The visa vignette expiry was dated for 16 September 2020. Moving forwards, we will now conduct new checks and amend the dates on the visa vignette and send the decision to Ms. BB.

Once the VAC offices have received the decision, they will contact your relative.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.”

From the above email, does that mean they’ve given my sister in law the visa? We don’t want to keep our hopes high because of all the rejections to extended family member applications but the email seems to suggest they approved her application.

Also who should we contact regarding the expiry of an family permit? When we spoke to UKVI they said we have to wait until we receive the documents and if it’s expired only then can they escalate the case.

Your advice is much appreciated. Thanks

Hi tiktok
If I read correctly, your mother-in-law, father-in-law and 7 year old brother-in-law got EUSS permit.
Could you please share the timeline ?
Have they arrived in the UK?
If yes, what they have applied now?
What was the reasons for your sister-in-law refusal ?
Thanks

Oh Woow many congratulations ! That’s such good news.

Can I ask who is the sponsor of your brother in law? Did your wife sponsor them?

I didn’t know it was possible to apply for EUSS family permit for a brother or sister in law.

Why don’t you try to apply for your sister in law through the same way? Settlement scheme family permit seems to have more success rate than EEA family permit.

Sorry I forgot to mention my brother had eea family permit.

I was planning to apply but coz we have pending appeal if I submit new application i will lose my appeal it will like automatically be deleted. So they may refuse her and need to make new appeal again.

Dear all
I need your opinion on this.
My query is in relation to the number of applicants for the EEA family permit.
Does it make any difference, if we submit one application of the dependent family member at a time rather then submitting more applications people related to that dependent family member i.e spouse or children of said dependent family member?
plaese share your thoughts

thanks

Application for the EU settlement scheme family permit.
Timeline is as follows
1) Application submitted -----------------------01/09/2020
2) Biometric Submitted----------- ------------04/09/2020
3)Email UKVI paid service---------------------24/09/2020
4)Response from UKVI------------------------25/09/2020

In an email dated 25/09/2020, UKVI confirmed that a decision has been made on the application but still waiting to hear from VFS for the collection of the passport.
Could you please help to figure out where the delay is and what is the current status of the application?

Same here. I had to email UKVI paid enquiry service myself today and only then did they tell me that a decision had been made and that my VAC shall contact me to give me back my passport. Still waiting on this at the moment.

From what I heard, due to Covid-19, their services have become slow and it will take time to get back the passport.

Hi All,

I am in process of applying for visa for my sister in law who is 14 years old. I am also applying for my parents in law. What I understood from your posts that for my sister I need to apply for EU family permit? The problem is that I am not sending money to my parent regularly. It is not a problem for my parents visa as dependency is assumed. Can I apply for my parent first and after they got pre settled status apply for my sister, proving that she is dependant on my parents?

Seems very confusing

I just find it weird, as surely 14 years old girl can't stay alone if her parents are moving to UK?

Appreciate any help and ideas.

Thanks

'Not Straightforward Email' means something went wrong with assessing your Application, that they require some more proof/clarifications regarding your Application. Yes they asked me for more proof, which I gave in return.

Hello everyone,
I am a UK resident and applied for my family for EUSS Family Permit. They were 3 separate applications and separate biometric appointments as couldn't get an appointment on same day. The one application got refused by email (child) just after 7 days of being acknowledged in the UK (grounds on financial evidence missing even though I thought dependency is assumed for children of EEA citizen) however the rest are still pending and its been over 10 days for them. Is it possible that one gets refused and two pass even though its the same family? Could someone please advise us as we are anxiously waiting.
Thanks

Also: once a decision has been made should you receive the refusal email straight away or does it take a few days to send out?
Looking at multiple online comments, you normally get a refusal decision very soon and your passport is returned a few days after the refusal decision (sometimes, the very next day after a refusal decision!).
If you don't get your passport, then it means either they are still taking time to consider your case or that they have already made a decision and they are just waiting to give back your passport to you.
I would highly suggest you to send UKVI an email using the online paid enquiry service so that you can at least know whether a decision has been made or whether they are still processing your application.

Thanks for your reply. I called up on 22.10.2020 and they said that a decision has been made. However until today no refusal email and no email to collect passport. I hope the next email would be to collect the passport. Now just wondering what the outcome is
