EEC UK residency & passport expiration question?

Post by jurajpe » Thu Feb 16, 2006 2:53 pm

Hello Everyone
I would have a question. I am a holder of a UK residency permit. I am from slovak republic, an EU country. I have this greenish card with photo and my picture in it. I applied with the EEC1 form. The thing is, it has my passport number in it. And my passport is about to expire soon. So what shell I do? Can help somebody with usefull information? I called home office and they gave me some address to send all stuff ther for the conditions to be transfered. Is there a fee payable, or is ther something more to know? Thanks for any info.
George

How long have you been working in the UK? Since before Slovakia joined the EU?

Your residence permit? What expiry date does it have?

In any case as an EU citizen you have a right of entry into the UK (subject to the usual exemptions relating to state security etc). So your new passport, without any residence permit, will get you into the UK. And if any employer wants to see you have the right to work in the UK, just show all relevant documentation to prove that.

You say there is a fee payable? Are you sure? I would have thought that under EU legislation the transfer to your new passport should be free of change.
