Eligibility question on naturalisation

Post by quentin01 » Wed Jan 19, 2011 4:17 pm

Hi all,
I have been in UK since May 2004 on work permit (total of 3 months absence till now). I got ILR 12-Nov-2010.
So I have a bit more than six years residence and 2 months since I got ILR. When can I apply for British citizenship?
Thanks
Quentin

If you are married to a British citizen and fulfil the requirements for spouse/partner of British citizen, you may apply now.

If not, then you may apply on/after 12-Nov-11 subject to standard requirements being met.

Thanks for the reply!

I am not married to a british citizen so I'm gonna have to wait till Nov 2011. I got delayed in going for ILR as there was a lot going on in my life last year.

I asked the question as there are two sets of requirements (total residence time and time post-ILR) and I thought maybe there is a way to not have as much time post-ILR if the total time requirements (=5+1) are met.
