Am I eligible to vote under Tier 2 General Visa?

Dear Guru's/Experts

I'm in Tier 2 General Visa and i have a dependent as well. My question is can I and my wife register our names in voters list? Are we eligible for voting? Please advice. Election is on the way and we are keen to support labor party :P .

What is your nationality? If you are not from a qualifying commonwealth country then you cannot register or vote.
