Employed in the US, having an apartment in DE, working in DK

Post by DanBrown » Thu Jul 10, 2008 1:30 pm

I am employed in the US and have an apartment in Germany (paid by my emplyer) where I return to on the weekends. I have a work permit in Germany (I will be deregistering) and in Denamrk (I have registered here). I have given my hotel address for the registration in Denmark. I am a little lost if this is all legal and even more confused with my taxes.

I was working in Germany from Sept 06 -May 07 (with one month break in between) and will be working till Feb in Denmark. My tax consultant says that since I have an apartment in Germany, I am suppossed tp pay taxes from day 1 and the 180 day rule does not apply. That sounds like bollox to me.

What abt taxes in denmark, while I still have an apartment in Germany?

Needless to say, I am a non EU citizen and have another work permit in the US;)

Confused!

You need a tax expert with this mate, and one well versed in international tax legislation. Will cost a bundle but will save you from bother with the authorities and subsequent seizures of assets if it goes wrong...
