Employer wants to send me abroad -will this affect my ILR?

Hello,

I am on a Tier2 General visa which I moved to after my PSW. My visa expires on the 28th of this month and I have sent in my application for renewing it for another 3 years.

My employer has some opportunities abroad in their own branch which I am keen to take. The opportunity is for a period of six months to two years.

My question is: will staying out of the UK for a continuous period of more than six months affect my ILR application which I will be eligible for in two years time? If my employer provides a letter to the home office that my services are required outside the country will I be exempted from the 180 day rule?
