Biotechnology -- Lab tech Jobs in UK

Post by s0787671 » Mon May 05, 2014 9:52 am

Hi,

I am on a Tier 2 Visa and my wife is on dependent visa. We are based in Dundee, Scotland.

Its been about 1.5y since she has been on this visa, but she couldnt find any job in her sector other than doing part time jobs with minimum wage in retail store.

We have tried lot of sites and even then we couldnt find her a suitable job or response back. Is it because on being on dependent visa or should we be looking out in some particular location in UK.

I can post her CV in this POST, if some body could point out from experience , whats needing changed or if there any positions for bio technicians available n UK.

Involved as a Research Assistant and Laboratory Technician trainee in the Plant Products and Food
Quality Department.
The project essentially comprised of identifying proteins and metabolites of unknown functionality that are co-ordinately expressed in response to a variety of biotic stresses caused by Aphids on Arabidopsis. Responsible for producing good results utilized in a presentation based on Arabidopsis exhibiting divergent responses due to aphid infestation in local and systemic tissues delivered by Dr. Rob Hancock at the Royal Entomological Society and Aphid Special Interest Group meeting at Syngenta.
Part of a research focused on unaffected, local and systemic leaves of Arabidopsis thaliana. Analysed
variability in quantity and quality of primary and secondary metabolites using methods such as GC-MS, LC-MS along with analytical software like X-Calibur, MS Excel in order to represent statistical data for comparative studies.
