Tier 2 General 5 yr route to ILR

Post by ashztomz » Sat Sep 23, 2017 11:42 am

HI,

I was issued a tier 2 general by my previous employer in 28 March 2013, I switched my employer to my current and visa is valid till 28 Jan 2018.

student - Sep 2009 - Jan 2011
psw - 10.2.2011 - 10.2.2013
tier2 (1st one ) - 22.4.2013 to 24.3.2016
tier2 ( 2nd one ) - 9.12.2014 to 28.1.2018 ( booked as priority appointment)

I'm short by around 50 days to complete my ILR. It's mainly because when I applied for my second tier 2 i opted for a priority appointment so the visa was granted the same day so I'm now short of around 50 days to my ILR .
Are there are any chances for me if my firm wont extend my visa beyond 28.1.2018 ?

I had a somewhat similar situation, when I was short of ILR by about 90 days on my T1G route. I paid for a same-day T1G extension and then applied for ILR when I was eligible. Expensive, but much less stress.

Alternatively, what some people on these forums have done is, apply for an Tier 2 extension by post before the last day of your existing T2G visa. Then, 28 days before you are eligible for ILR, if your T2G extension application has not yet been decided, you can vary it to a T2G ILR application.

If your T2G extension application has been decided favourably, you would of course apply for ILR in the usual way.
