Employment status: Director of a Limited Company/Self-Employed or Unemployed?

Post by shez2024 » Wed May 29, 2024 5:13 pm

Hi,

I'm not working currently at the time of my naturalisation application, and have recently left my full-time salaried job. But I am also a Director of a Limited Company, through which I am not doing any contracts or making any income currently.
To the question in the naturalisation app., are you currently employed?, should I answer 'No' as I am unemployed OR should I answer 'Yes' due to my active limited company? If I must select 'Yes', should I click 'Director' or 'Self-Employed'?

I'd request a prompt response. Thanks very much.
Best,
Shehzia

As you are a Director, select that option. Employment is not a statutory requirement for naturalisation. If you want, you can elaborate further on the fact you are a director in a cover note.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.
