End of Working Holiday Visa - Need Extension - Urgent Help

My partner is an Australian over here on a Working Holiday Visa, which is due to run out on the 9th July. I am, however, expecting our baby on the 7th August!!

We are, through our own laziness, running out of options on how to get him to stay in this country. Is the 6 month tourist visa the only viable option? and if so, is it reasonably easy to get as we are slightly worried about proving that he can support himself for the 6 months of the visa. We will be going to Oz once the baby is born so he won't need to stay here for the whole 6 months and I will be providing for both of us.

We have also, only been together since Feb 2004!!, fast movers these Aussies, so this, I think, has implications, on our being able to get him a dependant visa?

Hope this makes ense, I'm a bit stressed, what with the weather, 33 weeks pregnant and unhlepful people at the Home Office.

Papa to be needs to apply for further leave to remain (FLR) as a visitor using Form FLR(O). Tick the option other. The form must be accompanied by relevant documentation as listed on the form with an emphasis being on having enough resources to accomodate and maintain without recourse to public funds. I would recommend that you include a cover letter explaining the pregnancy situation with copies of relevant medical notes e.g. scan invitation etc. The application can be submitted:

1. In person = 500GBP with the advantage that he may get his visa issued on the same day subject to there being no issues.

2. By post GBP = 335. Home Office quote average processing times of 13 weeks. We are into the peak summer season (student visa renewals) and you have a flight to catch soon so option 1 might be best to ensure he has his passport back on flight day.

Have you considered:

1. Your future immigration status in Oz - your partner's experience shows the precarious nature of temporary stay visas.

2. A potential return to the UK - again his visa status will need resolving then. Your British Citizenship facilitates his return in various methods subject to the immigration rules in place on the relevant date.

3. Applying for your child's british passport so he/she can re-enter the UK freely.

4. Applying for your child's Oz passport via the Oz consulate in London. He/she can then enter Oz as a citizen from day 1.

Your partner must submit his application before the expiry of his visa. Since you can do this 28 days or later to the expiry date of your current visa, I would suggest he makes an appointment to the nearest Public Enquiry Office today. Naturally I join the mods and the forum in congratulating you both and wish that baby fills your life with joy.
