English langauage requirement for dependent visa

Post by dineshsethiya » Sat Nov 20, 2010 3:01 pm

Hi Everyone,

Greetings from me. I have recently got my Tier-1 visa under general category and I'm now in UK and working here. I'm planning to apply dependent visa for my wife and son. Could anyone help/confirm, me that rules of english language requirement is not applicable for my wife if we apply visa after 29th. The rule which I'm talking here can be seen at:

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/partn ... /partners/

After reading this it looks that this requirement is for those who have settled in UK or British citizen but it would be nice if someone can confirm from this group.

I would appreciate early responses. Many thanks in advance.

Regards,
Dinesh

You are right, Tier1 dependents don't need english language testing.

Any migrant who wants to enter or remain in the UK as the partner of a British citizen or a person settled here will need to show that they can speak and understand English, by taking an English language test with one of our approved test providers.
