English language requirement

Post by avi123 » Mon Jun 13, 2011 6:49 am

Hello everyone,

I wonder if somebody could help regarding the English requirements for Tier 2. It says on the guidelines that it accepts Ielts academic and general. Does that mean that we have to clear both exams for IElTS or just one, as the formats for academic and general are very similar.

The law for english requirements has changed recently. In the guideline valid before 17th May, it clearly stated the requirements as IELTS Academic or general, however the new law now is IELTS Academic and general. I am just thinking if its a typing mistake by UKBA.

I have called up IELTS information centre and they think the same as me logically. When i called up UKBA several times i did not get a clear answer from them.

How and from where can i get a clear answer ? Is there any one in the forum who have got their Tier 2 just by appearing in one type of IELts after 17th May. A response from them and seniors would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

P.S- I dont have a qualification in English which is recognised by UKBA and i have appeared for IELTS ACADEMIC on 28th May, 2011 and secured band level 8 out of 10.

Either Academic or General.
