English Language Requirements for applying ILR

Post by mukhs9 » Fri Jan 19, 2024 10:34 am

Hi,

I am about to apply for my ILR after completing 10 years of legal residence in UK, on March 2024.

Now coming to the English language requirements, I have a NARIC certificate which I had received in January 2021 and it states that I have a English proficiency level (CEFR level) of C1. Will this certificate be eligible and sufficient to prove my English proficiency or do I have to recertify myself again, before I apply for my ILR ?

I actually got this certification done when I was applying for my Skilled worked VISA way back in 2021, hence thought to be sure whether its still valid for my ILR application for March 2024.

Thank You.

Old NARIC can only be used if it was obtained under the Red route

HI,

Thanks for the advice, I believe Red Route means when "it is provided by UK NARIC on behalf of the Home Office.". I have obtained the certificate for my Skilled Worker Visa as stated earlier and with that certificate my VISA got processed as well, so hopefully it should be fine and obtained via the red route.

Please correct me if I am wrong. I can send you a copy to validate if required.

Thanks.

It used to be called 'Visa & Nationality Service'. I am not sure how the certificate looks like to confirm
The red coloured UK NARIC Visas and Nationality statements have enhanced security features and present clearly to the Home Office case worker the information regarding your qualification(s) that they need (about your qualifications, country of study etc) to make a decision about your immigration, settlement or visa application.
