English test for Citizenship

Post by gidget77 » Mon Nov 10, 2014 6:18 pm

Hi

As a German citizen applying for British Citizenship I am wanting some clarification on the english test.

I was born in New Zealand ( lived there until I was 22) and then moved over to the U.K. I would be using my German passport as one of the documents in my citizenship application.

Can anyone clarify whether or not I would need to take the english test or not ?

It seems the guidance for people in situations similiar to mine doesn't exist- there must be many more people who were born in English speaking countries and who also hold passports for countries that don't speak english as their first language.

There is no point applying for citizenship through my NZ passport as I have only been in the U>K on my German passport since I got here.

Thanks for your help.
