From 29 Nov 2010,
Guidance for applicants on English language requirement for partners wrote:The important thing is that they are able to provide evidence of the qualification when applying for a visa.

The UK test centres you were looking at are for those extending/switching from within the UK.

You mention North Africa but not whether your wife is in Algeria or Morocco. This may help:

Visit the website(s) of the named organisations in the list and look for their centre(s) around the globe / country of interest.

e.g. -
For IELTS, IELTS test centre search.
For TOEFL, TOEFL iBTâ„¢ Test Centers and Dates or iBT and PBT Test Centers.

Unfortunately, the official list can't be relied on entirely. Pearsons, the official test providers listed on the UKBA site for North Africa say their nearest test centre is in Madrid or Barcelona!

There is no concept of official partner for a given country / region. Applicants can choose any of the approved test providers available at a location nearest or convenient to them in the country of their residence / choice.

As long as an approved testing partner is used and one passes at CEFR A1 standard, it doesn't matter which test provider is used where.

e.g. -
Morocco - IELTS (Rabat), TOEFL (Agadir, Casablanca, Marrakech, Meknes, Rabat, Tangier)
Algeria - IELTS (Algiers), TOEFL (Algiers)
Ecuador - IELTS (Quito, Guayaquil), TOEFL (Quito, Guayaquil, Loja, Monta)

marriage visa granted before compulsory english test

Post by has » Wed Nov 10, 2010 9:07 pm

Hi

My wife applied for a marriage visa before english testing became a requirement and her application was successful, however I may not be able to fly out and return with her before 29 November 2010.

Question,

Even though she has never taken this new test, will she still be able to enter the country on this visa even after this date ?

We have not submitted the visa application online yet, however, my fiance will take the TOEFL exam this weekend. My understanding is that results should be submitted directly by the provider to UKBA/Worldbridge but am not sure how to do this given that they will have no record of us as yet?
Any advice?

No. At the time of visa applocation, submit the test report that you receive(d) from the test provider alongwith the other documentary evidence(s).
