English woman marrying Mauritian man going to France

Hello,

Do any of you have some genuine advice on how to go about the above.

I'm going to marry my boyfriend of 3 years in Mauritius. He is Mauritian and I am English. We would like to settle in France as he has family there and for various reasons it's our preference.

How do we start? I've been told so many horror stories about being apart for years due to tighter regulations thanks to so many people having "sham marriages." I really need some advice from anyone who has undergone something similar themselves.
